I used to say that I didn't care since it's a doctor- my mum had ovarian cancer when I was a kid and luckily she's still here because of good doctors... but an ex-chick was, how should I put it, getting a little more from her male gynecologist than just the pap result which broke my heart and really opened my eyes.

Now for any future partner, for checkups I'd think it respectful if she didn't want a man doing those things to her - IF (and only if) there are suitably qualified women available. Otherwise, as much as I would hate the idea of her spread in front of some creepy male gyno, I'd think her health comes first.

If there were capable women available and she still went with the man, I probably would break up with the slut.

I don't care, I just go to whoever has the best credentials and knows what they're doing.

My current gyno. is a man. He's a great doctor. It doesn't make me uncomfortable at all. It can be awkward at times but it's going to be awkward regardless of my doctors gender.

The exam is over in like 5 minutes and he is very knowledgable and know what he's doing so I'm satisfied with him being my gynecologist.

Male doctors are male and they obviously have their natural instincts and feelings despite of their professional etiquettes or controlled behaviour.
My boyfriend too would want me to see a female gynaecologist.

Yes but not in my part of the world. I'm from Asia. Lesbians are not so common. Plus another reason is the understanding. A man can never understand how it's like to have a vagina (like teasegirl said) and he just cannot understand the depth of the problems that a woman would. There's a lot of difference.

It doesn't matter if he knows what it feels like to have or not have a vagina if he's trained then he's trained. But I understand where you're coming from. When I get a physical I honestly don't care if a guy doctor or a female doctor touches my nuts. A lot of my friends are insecure and always want a female doc.

I can understand if a girl is more comfortable with a female but its the "he's a man he doesn't have one" true but it doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's talking about because he does otherwise he wouldn't be a certified gynecologist.

To mr Big. I think balls are way more simple than vaginas and the rest of women's reproductive system. The fact that we bleed once a month for more than half of our life and guys don't says more than girls being insecure. He can be well trained but it doesn't change the fact tht he has never stuck a tampon up his stuff or worn a bra for more than 12 hours straight. To Mr cavmanier I think is funny I have some haters. In terms of gynecologists, I agree with what teasegirl is saying. It doesn't make us more likely to be lesbian. It is all about comparability.

Yes, we can relate better and trust more a female doctor than a guy. I'm not questioning the male doctors knowledge, just saying that he will never know what is like to be a girl. And no, we aren't lesbians by preferring a female.

i don't care, I know most doctors just do their job. my gf/fiancé doesn't feel comfortable going to a male gyno.

I myself prefer female urologists or any doc that has to look at my stuff

I honestly would have a hard time to send my wife to a guy for this... She has a really great female gynaecologist now who's very experienced - the downside though: She's already around 60 and will probably retire soon :/

I have a friend who went with his wife to the gynecologist (pregnant). He said the DR said "that a nice one" when he saw her vagina. Friend said he didn't whether to punch him or thank him.

We men all know deep down in side that male gynecologist don't detach their balls before entering the exam room but you'd hope their professionalism would out weigh the inner perversions... even if it were such love of vagina which probably brought them to the profession in the first place.
