Why are guys so grossed out by periods?

I understand. It's gross. But some are completely disgusted. Which doesn't make sense? If you're having sex with her, you should be able to handle her having a period. It's natural

  • Well I agree with you but I think it's sort of the knee-jerk aversion we have toward sexuality in our culture. We're OBSESSED with sex. Obsessed. On one hand boys are told "have sex or you're awkward and being awkward is bad!" and on the other girls are told "If you have sex you lose the most precious part of yourself and you'll never get it back." And then adults are sent all kinds of messages too. Men and women both. We both encourage and discourage people with regard to sex and we do it a LOT. So we have such an immature attitude about it and so people scream and/or laugh hysterically when you mention "pee pee parts." It's either "OH MY GOD! THAT IS SO GROSS!" or "OH YEAH! SEX! SEX IS GREAT! SEX IS SO AWESOME! I FUCKING LOVE SEX!" So yeah, very immature.

But it's not just guys. Why are so many women just disgusted by semen? A lot of women won't go near it or when they're giving head they actually make the guy cum somewhere else and all kinds of stuff that is just an adult version of "Ewww, cooties!" I get gag reflexes and all that but often it's just that they think it's "gross." And I think that's less gross as it were than menstrual blood, wouldn't you say? I don't think it's one-sided at all. I think a lot of people need to grow up and realize that biology is not something that's going away so we're stuck with it. I would say both sides need to be a lot more mature about this.

  • Some guys are just immature. It is a natural body function, and they just have to get over it.
Many of my GFs like period sex, and I indulge them. Yeah it might not be the best part of
being a girl, but it is part of her. They need to man up.

  • Haha! I remember asking my boyfriend this, too.

He doesn't find it "gross", but it's just hard to look at; no one likes seeing large quantities of blood randomly. Although he will buy me pads, rub my belly, and get me heating pads. It's just the concept of it being a lot of blood coming out of the body makes people feel uncomfortable, which is understandable. Of course women don't feel off about it since it becomes a routine event.

  • Because they're gross, haha!

They make us moody, they make the parts of us they're very interested in untouchable and messy.
I think they're gross. Yeah, it's natural, but it's still gross, haha!

  • I've never had a problem with guys and period sex. Though, it can look pretty gory afterwards!

  • Men, or rather, boys in your age group are mostly still uneducated, immature, and overreactive. They're no different from 6 and 7 year old boys thinking girls are gross.

    • My boyfriend 18. He isn't grossed out by it. But I have a twin sister who's boyfriend is only a year older. And he is. I just think it's ridiculous

    • It absolutely is ridiculous, but ignorance runs stronger in younger people. Obviously, that is a norm, not an absolute. There are always exceptions to the norm, your boyfriend being one of them.

  • "I simply dont believe in something that bleeds for days on end and just doesn't die." -Mr/Mrs. Garrison

  • Boys are grossed out by periods.

    Men are not.

  • I'm not really grossed out by the idea of it, but I also don't want to be doing anything down there while she's on it either.

I'd just hope that ONE ride being closed for renovations doesn't mean that the whole amusement park is off limits...

  • EWWWW BLOOD BLODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Actually, I'm pretty sure it's just because we're not used to it. I wouldn't get grossed out after the fourth time either.

  • Honestly that's usually immature fellows who feel like that. It shouldn't be an issue at all considering it will be the same more less with anyone else.. Grow up

  • Not really grossed out by it, I mean sometimes I even help my own girlfriend out by buying her pads and what not. It's pretty normal for me and expected when having a girlfriend.

  • People have different tolerances for unpleasant situations, and periods are usually fairly unpleasant. On the other hand, period sex has built-in lubrication, although going down on her is off the table.

  • Doesn't bother me in the slightest

  • I care less of a females period but if I can avoid coming into contact with menstrual blood I will.

  • Doesn't bother me at all lol I don't see why it would gross people out that much

  • Its a social trend that stems from religion I think. Women are seen as "unclean" during the time.

  • Its just natural so I don't know y some are but, it maybe because you're bleeding out if your vagina

  • I'm not disgusted at all

  • Only those immature and freaked out by it. It's a natural part of life... for females

  • i dont, only the stupid guys you hang out with do

    • What's gross is girls that leave their dirty used tampons lying around. I hate that.

    • nah. id actually love that

    • well your weird.

  • I'm not grossed out by periods. I'd be grossed out by period sex.
