Is it safe to use moisturizer as anal lube?

Unscented of course, would there be ill affects? I know it could cause irritation if there is an allergy but other than that, is it safe? If not what are some suitable replacements, house hold items as I have no access to lube where I live, otherwise I'd go and buy some, and there is no way in the world that I am going to be explaining a package coming to my house that has anal lube.

I would read and see if it contains alcohol or any sterilizers... skin around the anus may be too sensitive to use such moisturizers as sexual lubricants.

Most lubes that are recommended are water based instead of oil based... this is why vaseline, cooking oil, lotion, etc, are listed as "no no's" for use as lubricant (not just skin irritation but oil can compromise the integrity of the latex in the condom).

Well I'm only interested in anal play, so no actual sex, no condoms required. So would it be safe to use oil based items since there isn't a condom involved?

I wouldn't recommend it... the active ingredients may burn and irrirtate the skin of the anus. If I were u I would use some sort of oil (baby oil is my #1 option and u can get it for cheap at a dollar store. :-P

Moisturizer usually contains alcohol, which I'm guessing would burn like a bitch. Water based lube is best, but coconut oil or even baby oil might work.

Don't listen to Broken2ashez's comments about anal being unsafe. That's nonsense. It's crazy how much misinformation there is out there about anal sex.

Please be careful about putting things up your bum like moisturisers, it can make you feel ill quite quick anal is awesome but really you want to be using a suitable lube or lubed condoms.
semen is also an awesome alternative but their needs to be quite a bit so if your in a group then that's not a problem and lube won't be needed.

Anal sex is unsafe no matter what, unless you want a lot of health problems later in life and wear an adult diaper before you are 40.
My mom was a nurse and when we had the sex talk she explained to me the risks of anal sex, and to me it isn't worth it.

Im sorry but i will believe a certified nurse, doctor, or what ever over people s say so. I actually knew a couple where a girl ended up dying from internal bleeding caused by anal sex/play or what ever you want to call it. There is a vein inside that area that if ruptured or stimulated too much will cause a lot of health problems. The anal canal isn't a naturally self lubing organ like the vagina, and the walls are very delicate, putting anything inside of it can become fatal. The sphincter also doesn't have the elastic capability of the vagina, so when it gets stretched constantly it will stay that way, once it's stretched it looses its functioning capability leading to anal leakage and uncontrollable bladder, the vagina was designed to fit the penis without harming the body, also it is self lubricating for comfortand ease of access, but the vagina is designed to stretch big enough for a baby to come through the walls and canal, but goes almost back to the same size after healing

Also learned all of this in my health class, sex ed classes, and through a lot of research and talking to doctors about it. Any kind of lube, oil, etc can cause infections, anal play/sex can cause hemroids, bleeding, infections from tears of penetration due to no natural lubricants, and using store bought, also fecal matter can get into those areas and cause infections that can turn deadly, anal leakage, uncontrollable bowels, internal bleeding, and if course stds. Believe me when i say things i don't speak them without knowing the facts, and doing my research!!

Has to be proper lube. The unscented lube bit was funny it made me laugh as it won't stay unscented for long haha. Go to a sex shop or online get the proper stuff its far safer
