GUYS: How do you like your girlfriend to smell? Do PHEROMONES affect YOU??

I have a new boyfriend, but as a rule of thumb I've ALWAYS wanted to be clean and smell nice when I'm around people. So, of course, I'm always newly showered when I'm with my guy! Personally, I don't have a good sense of smell. However, if something is really strong, like perfumes or cologne, they make me gag and/or sneeze. Yuck! It's like I'm tasting motor oil or something. However, for several years I've liked using a Bath & Body Works body "spritz" that actually smells like something real - I get the "Warm Vanilla" scent (and for some reason, some people say it makes them think of coconut, but, whatever). Anyway, I'm careful where I apply the spritz since I might get kissed in certain spots. Here's my question/dilemma/situation: the last time I was with my boyfriend, I had actually planned to get my shower the night before so I could just get up and straighten my hair, and then, before he got here I "spritzed" myself like normal. A few hours later after we'd been together and making out a lot, I think he was sniffing near my armpit, and, seemed to enjoy it. I don't know if this was because of my pheromones OR just that we HAVE been getting more and more "hot 'n heavy" now that we're more serious, in love, and going to have sex in the near future. And, I know that he has a good sense of smell - he left a pillow at my place once, I washed it, and he said after I returned it he could smell my house for a week (and I use the no dyes, no perfumes type of laundering products). Are GUYS actually affected by pheromones and, just maybe, you like girls better if they're just au natural?!?!?!?!?!?! OPINIONS PLEASE!?!?!?!?! THANKS! :)

  • Yes. Guys are actually effected by pheromones. So are women. There is a lot of information out there that contradicts that statement based on the fact that for a long time, nobody could figure out the mechanism by which people are effected by them; the official scientific opinion was that humans don't have the organs for pheromone detection. Then they found an organ that might be relevant to such capabilities, and did various studies showing that humans do detect pheromones somewhow and that they do have sexual effects. (Many more details are known and can be found using Google.) Personally, I love it when I can smell my woman -- I'd like it the best if she wouldn't wear deodorant and would stop shaving her armpits. (For that matter, I'd prefer she not shave anything -- I like my women natural. Women are hot the way they are.) Seriously. I know most guys are not like that, but then again, most guys aren't aware of all the stuff that goes on in the brain during human pair-bonding activities. Not showering isn't particularly helpful, and it can be off-putting, but deodorant and armpit shaving can mask some wonderful stuff. Just my personal opinion.

  • There have been plenty of studies out there that you can search that states that the armpit releases pheromones that are sexual in nature. Moreover, there is current research about each person having an individual smell if deodorant is not applied which masks a person natural smell. This is supposed to help attract a mate. I love to smell my significant others armpits and that usually leads to other things that are sexual in nature. Although it may not be common in this society it is natural to want to do that; at least from what I have experienced and what I have read.

  • Some guys are. It's not rare, but it's not normal either. I know I am cause I lost one of my senses. And so my sense of smell is really good. Also men and women use scent as a sign of telling if your compatible or not. Seems he's really head over heals for you.
