Why does the clitoris has more nerves ending than the penis?

the penis has around 4000-6000 nerves and the clitoris 8000,is there any biological reason to that or evolution ?

  • I dont know why people say that the female clitoris has more nerve endings than the entire penis. Yes it does have more nerve endings than an cut penis, but not more an uncut penis. Cut penises have roughly about 4000 as much as 7000 in some males, while the clitoris can have anywhere from 8000-10000 nerve endings making it more sensitive to the touch. But an uncut penis with the foreskin can have as much as 10000 to as much as 20000 nerve endings making it more sensitive than the female clitoris. I am not just saying this, it's a scientifical fact! I can definitely attest to this as I myself had a uncut penis when I was a boy. Before they circumcised me, I remember sometimes when I pull my foreskin back and touch the penis gland that it will hurt like a motherf... After they circumcised me when I was 12 I remember that the day after, when my penis gland was finally expose, I could not resist the feeling of having underwear as it fell super extremely painful. So yeah, girls clitoris are very sensitive as well but at least they can bare being touch a bit, a penis with a foreskin is extremely painful to the touch. So in conclusion, a intact penis is way more sensitive than a female clitoris!

    • Fortune does not have 20,000 nerve endings this was debunked. This has been a lie that has been perpetuated and spread around. But it has been debunked The source was found to be false. In actuality the foreskin has about 2,000 to 4000 nerve endings. And there's a possibility that the penis does have the same amount of nerve endings that the female clitoris has but it is less densely packed than the clitoris giving the clitor is much more densely packed nerve endings and a spot which makes it much more sensitive and prone to much more intense orgasms.

    • The foreskin does not have 20,000 nerve endings.

  • Because if a penis had that many nerve endings, guys would be passing out from sensory overload during orgasm, and we can't have that, because like, what if a sabretooth tiger or something attacks us while we're having an orgasm?

Women have more nerve endings so as to make sex at least pleasurable enough without orgasm that they'll put up with sex for the purpose of procreation at least, since men were too busy worrying about sabretooth tiger attacks to learn how to properly get a woman off.

    • do you have any sources for that, seem interesting

    • 😂😂😂😂😂 love this so much hahaha

    • Woman have more nerve endings and her clitoris and vulva as a whole making her able to orgasm and have a much more intense and pleasurable experience than males do.

  • yeah the penis is like the fully grown version of the vagina in a sense.. like vaginal canal is equivalent to the shaft, prostate to the g-spot, clit to the head.
I'd say it's a biological reason. The nerve endings on a penis are slightly concentrated in the head, but also a bit scattered around the shaft. For girls, they're all within the clit.
Evolutionary purpose of it would be a byproduct of it's evolution. When a girl orgasms, generally via clitoral stimulation, she releases large amounts of oxytocin+dopamine, both hormones that are really important in terms of bonding and such.

So to answer your question, a little bit of both. :)

    • thank you for your answer !

    • no problem! not sure what's up with the downvotes but yeah.. also, as to why guys are technically more difficult to please during sex due to the nerve endings being not quite as concentrated like in the clit, that's probably so they don't get overstimulated quite as easily as girls can. Like often a girl can't handle direct contact there due to it being hypersensitive, whereas a guy can go again and again after the refractory period is over. So I guess another one for the evolutionary purpose.

    • I think you're mostly right.

  • Both sexes start out as the same sex but then one transforms into a male with testosterone, or a female with Estrogen and their genitals start forming. But for the first few weeks the fetus will be the same whether it is going to be a girl or a boy. The clitoris is very sensitive and touching it without lubrication can be actually painful. Some may think it has way too many nerves than needed yet why are men not always make a woman orgasm then?

  • Science hasn't entirely determined why. There are theories, but no one has given definitive proof yet.

  • y'all if you want to feel a little better about your penis sensitivity, maybe increase sensitivity a bit, I'd recommend eating better, exercising, drinking lots of water and ensuring that you apply a layer of lotion daily, something made specifically for below the belt, like a penis health.

  • Its because we are lucky:)

    • ahaha maybe x)

    • you lucky sex ;)

  • i don't know... ask biology basically...:-P

  • I am learning so many fun facts today lol!
I got some thing to mention to my bros when we eat dinner in a few lol

    • i just learned that too ahaha xD

    • Haha! they got such a kick out of it! They said "where did you hear that shit?" and now i am labeled a creep... my new nickname to them is nerves... thanks... thanks a lot lol!

    • ahahahah nerve is quite a cute name :D

  • So that you women can get more pleasure. But that's just a guess.

  • I don't exactly know the answer to your question. The clitoris is the only organ or body part whose sole function is sexual pleasure. The part that's visible externally is also pretty small compared to the penis. And the penis of course has more than a sexual function. So maybe it has something to do like this:

bigger size + fewer nerve endings = smaller size + more nerve endings

    • more nerves in smaller area=more density if i am right?

    • yes...

    • @Asker That's right. But then you get into the issue of the TOTAL size of the clitoris. The part of the clitoris that is visible is small, but most of the clitoris is internal. But still, the notion that the clitoris is actually more sensitive than the penis is pretty well-founded. It's an amazing body part.

  • Because God made it that way

  • who cares. the number of nerve endings says nothing about the overall sexual pleasure. pleasure in my opinion is an emotional thing mostly.

    • besides i don't think the overall number is different, it's the number per survace measure that differs, which is easily explained by it being the same thing just smaller xD

  • I think part of the reason is that if the penis is too sensitive it hurts too easily when we walk around and hit stuff. Also the penis is the clitoris before we men turn into men during early life. The deeper scientific purpose to all this I don't know but might as well enjoy what you got right ladies ;D

    • Facts. If you think about it, if the penis was to be extremely sensitive like the clitoris, it would be nearly impossible to be penetrating a woman and having sexual intercourse and pleasure with her as it will be excruciatingly painful. It would also be very uncomfortable to be urinating out of the penis and ejaculating semen out of the penis as well. Too sensitive. Hence, why the male penis has less densely packed nerve endings then the female clitoris does.

  • None of the above, when you circumcise a boy he loses TONS of nerves, the uncircumcised penis has more nerve endings than the clit. Circumcision was designed to reduce masturbation because it effectively makes the penis less sensitive...

  • Maybe females just got lucky.

  • To entice women to reproduce.

  • The foreskin of the penis actually has like 10,000-20,000 nerves

  • Just a happy little accident.

  • Because women cannot orgasm in vaginal alone.

    • Yeah, they can. Not always, but you definitely can orgasm without using your clit. Hell, I've made a girl orgasm with just good titplay. The clitoris is probably the easiest way of pulling it off, though, right up there with G-spot stimulation.

    • @Man_Over_Game no. The vaginal walls have no mechanism by which to produce or have an orgasm. When an orgasm occurs in a woman it is located in the clitoris, and the clitoris is the only female body part that triggers the phenomena we call orgasm. This has been shown in many studies, but especially in the work of Italian sexologists Puppo and Puppo. The clitoris is essentially the same organ as the penis, contains all the same parts except for the urethra. When a woman experiences that tell-tale special feeling from what she percieves as vaginal stimulation, it is actually because there are parts of the clitoris that are getting pressure through the walls of the vagina, not in the actual vaginal wall itself. Just like men and their penises, there are ways to emotionally/mentally stimulate the clitoris to orgasm without specific stimulation to the clitoris. There are very few women who experience that though. The vast majority of women need direct stimulation to the clitoris. But let us remember that there's more to the clitoris than the glans and shaft.

    • @Man_Over_Game Wrong, the clitoris is the only organ capable of inducing an orgasm. What happens when a girl 'orgasms from penetration' or 'orgasm from nipple stimulation' is, respectively, that the back of her clitoris was stimulated enough during penetration, or that she pressed her legs together when you were playing with her nipples and that that was enough. The clitoris doesn't need always much stimulation to orgasm when the woman is turned on enough, so just pressing legs together could do the trick for some women.

  • Maybe to encourage the guy to thrust and the woman to stay more still, getting more sperm deposited.
