I Started Shaving My Pubic Hair, How Do I Get Rid of The Rash?

I started shaving my pubic hair a few days ago. I'm 16 and have been trimming it since I first got it, but decided to shave it clean. The problem is, a huge, itchy rash broke out everywhere I shaved. I know the skin is sensitive, so I've been shaving before every bath for the last week trying to get used to it, but nothing has changed. How do I get rid of this horrible rash?

  • Oh wow, ok...

so the skin is really really really sensitive down there! For many people, shaving it creates razor burn. aka rash you are talking about! it is itchy and painful and horrible and I hate it. I have decided not to shave it anymore, can't deal with the itch.

For now, you can take a wash cloth and soak in in really hot water, and lay it over your area to loosen up the pores. then you can use a good moisturizer. then maybe some powder. then leave it alone for a coupla dayz

after that heals you can go to the drug store and get a nair or nair like product. they are called depilatories.

Its a cream you put on, and then you wipe off the hair, much much better and easier.

I must caution you to please please follow the direction carefully. test a small area first to watch for sensitivity. Then make sure you only leave it on for the recommended time!

  • Okay you probably have like ingrown hairs and also razor burn (trust me I've been through this like 5 million times). SO what you have to do is don't even go near it with a razor until the hair has grown out a little, and really try hard not to scratch because it will make it really prickly and painful. Now there is one miracle product for this and it is Sudocrem. Its actually for baby nappy rash and its an 'Antiseptic Healing Cream'. The healing bit heals up the scratches and rash, the antiseptic stops anything getting infected and it is also really soothing and takes away the itch. So yeah just go buy a tub, it costs like £2.50 which is like..$4. It really works for me :)

  • The rash isn't a rash, it's tons of tiny, ingrown hairs. The best way to get rid of them is to wash the area with a mild, conditioning soap (like a body wash, not bar soap). Then, after your bath, use a product with salicylic acid in it on the worst bumps.

Next time, to help prevent razor burn, try using an electric bikini razor. You can get one almost anywhere for around $10-$15. Afterwards, use an oil-free moisturizer, like the kind you would use on your face.

And if that doesn't work, try a depilatory cream like Veet. Just be careful not to use any lotion on the area for 24 hours after using the product.

  • yeah just give it some time itlll heal...it might take another week or two...if its irritating just keep the skin moist with a moisturizing lotion...itll help with the irritation a little bit...and don't shave constantly down while the rash is still there cause all ur doing is irritating it more so just leave it alone...when the rash is gone you can start shaving again...try using a sensitive shaving cream next time you do it...

  • its very hard to put more shaving cream on it and use a better razor but waxing hurts and its the beat either way that area always has problems.

  • Time heals all wounds lol ;)

  • Use sudocream it helps reduce the redness and the itchiness👍

  • Don't shave it. Trimming is fine. I don't like them bald, it makes me feel like a pedophile. Plus, if I'm hooking up with you and you're new to me, and I see bumps... I'm getting nervous. Could be a bunch of things

    • Yeah I agree with this guy
