What condom brand is the best?

I'm just wondering because last year when I was about to have sex with my boyfriend we used a Trojan and it snapped/broke.. like wow.. that's scary. But then we used Durex and that seemed fine. But I'm just wondering, which condom brand is the best?

  • There is no "best condom" unfortunately. Unlike other products where you can have some being better then others, condom are all nearly the same. It comes down to material. different brand will use different materials. such as latex vs microsheer / lubricated vs un-lubricated. They all have the same protection rate. Unfortunately you got one of the not so lucky ones. Which unfortunately happen, rarely but, does happen. for 100% effectiveness use birth control with condoms, such as the pill. If you worried about disease your out of luck, condoms will break. This is not to scare you but, there is a very low percent chance of it happening.

On the other hand, tests have shown that people preferred Crown's "Skinless Skin Condoms". I have used them myself, and there quite nice. A bit tight if you girth is a bit though.

So to sum it up no condom is better then another. they all work the same just made with different materials for different sensations or for people allergic to things. Pick what works for you and go with it. Always helps if they have spermicide on them as well.

    Good luck.

  • Like everything, the best one is the best one for you. Trojan is usually a very reliable brand so more than likely your boyfriend used the condom incorrectly or needs to find a better size/style to fit him. Personally I use Durex and have never had a problem.

What I suggest is you and your boyfriend (or just your bf) get some sample packs or multi-packs and try out some different brands/styles/sizes and see which fit him/feel the best.

  • When I was with my boyfriend at the time, we always used Trojan. We tried Durex a few times, but it wasn't as good. I wouldn't base the brand just because it broke once. Yeah, it sucks, not gonna lie haha. But try to get a variety pack, and see which ones you like the most and which work best for you

  • It's less about the brand of condom and more how you use it. Condoms breaking are usually a user error, not a product error.

Main reasons for a condom breaking:

    1. Old condom. The latex degrades over time, and becomes weak. Check your dates.

    2. Improper lubrication. Not enough fluidity and too much friction on the condom breaks it.

    3. Improper application. The dude got sloppy and didn't put it on right.

In the future buy thicker condoms (a.k.a. "Her Pleasure" condoms), use them properly and keep on emergency contraceptive on hand. Use your head and you'll be fine.

  • My favorite is Durex. Never smells like rubber :)

    • Yea, I thought it was wayy better than trojan by far.

  • You'll have to break it down for me why getting a load of man juice in your p**** is scary. Babies? That's possible but you were a baby once and everything seems to have worked out fine for both you and your parents. That said if you are not comfortable with that prospect then I'd suggest a fine brand like Trojan, Sheik, Magnum --- anything with a branding image that can't afford for it to be too tarnished.

Anyway your focus might be better put on how you feel about yourself and your life rather than getting the failure rate of your latex down to 0.0001.

  • Depends on preference. Durex is good, Kimono or something like that (imported from Japan) is awesome, tried it once just very hard to get.

But here's a note: if the condom breaks, it is usually because of lack or lubrication (not the brand). Don't be afraid to buy some extra lubricant to make the condom less prone to breaking. The wetter the better!
