How to get rid of your period?

I am 14, and I know that I can't get rid of my period forever at this age. But I hate my period I am so SICK of it! And please don't tell me that, I should just keep dealing with it, because I refuse to. Also I have had my period for almost 3 years and it's still not regulated!! It never starts around a certain time, so I am always surprised, it always starts at a different time each month. One month it starts at the beginning, the next month is starts towards the middle of the month, the month after that it starts towards the end of that month. I am tired of it, and I also have a really heavy flow. Sometimes I get spotting, sometimes I don't and I get really bad cramps, and it makes me really grumpy. I have to wear both a pad & a tampon. And sometimes it stops after 2 days and sometimes it stops at 5. It's not regular at all. I have heard about a pill, or something that can stop you from having your period and I would like some information about how to stop it or what exactly that pill is. Because I want to start taking it because I am sick of having a irregular period.

  • Sorry but there is nothing you can do at the moment.

You are very young. Your body has not yet fully developed. Likely as you mature you will begin have regular periods. Am not sure if the severity decreases too though.

You can try the pill but at this age it could seriously fuk you up. Your body naturally makes hormones to manage itself. The pill is just a second dose of hormones designed to interfere with your own body's hormones. Since your body is developing at a rapid rate at I would not recommend extra hormones to interfere with things.

There is this other thing called the Minerva IUD (intrauterine device). They insert it into your cervix where it stays and slowly releases hormones. However unlike pills that affect your entire body Minerva releases weak doses that only affect local body functions. Or so they say... It's mostly for birth control but they have designed it to stop periods too. However I'm not sure when your cervix stops developing so I don't think at this age it is wise to have a foreign object in there.

  • There is absolutely nothing that can make your period go away. This stuff must come out and it will come out. Shutting off your period is about as impossible and as unhealthy as trying to never poop again.
The birth control bill can make your period more regular and less painful but it will still be there and that's a good thing.
If you don't want any period at all, you need to wait for menopause, which will come around the age of 50.

  • Sorry to inform you, but you will, in fact, have to deal with it. I completely understand the frustration of having am irregular period, though.

Mine was the same as yours, never knowing when it was coming, always having to wear something just in case, dealing with intense pain, and having a heavy flow when it does come.

The best thing to do is to go to the gynecologist. I went on the pill to regulate my cycle. It's worked so well. It made my periods come monthly immediately. My cramps aren't nearly as bad or frequent. I don't have to waste as much money on sanitary items either. I definitely recommend you look into it.

  • Everything you are experiencing is totally normal. I actually didn't start having mine until I was 15, and it was never really regular until I was in my 20's. Going on birth control really helped, but it also had some side effects that made me wish I didn't take it. Just talk to your mom and have her take you to the gynecologyst and she might put you on a low-hormone birth control to help. I would not recommend getting the kind that stops your period for 3 months at a time until you are a little older. I know periods are a pain, but I promise as you get older they will be more managable.

  • I can relate to what you are going through.
Yes birth control is a pill you take everyday, it's suppose to keep you protected from getting pregnant if you are sexually active but many girls use it when their period is causing too much "trouble" like if you have bad pain and bleed a lot. Many of my friends use this method, one of them haven't had her period for two years.. I think you should go to a doctor and see what they'll say. You are still very young so be careful.

  • Aww you've had a period for 3years poor baby. Congrats periods are a pain. Women have been dealing with this forever stop whining.

Birth control can regulate your period. Go see a doctor or go to a clinic.

  • You can try an IUD

  • It's called birth control. You have to take it daily, so it's a responsibility. You just need to get it integrated in your daily routine. Also, it doesn't stop your period, it only makes them lighter. Often young girls are kept off the pill because it has hormonal effects and they find it as an excuse to have unsafe sex. Personally, I love the pill because it makes my periods so much more routine and lighter

  • Just have a cork specially made, and plug er up!

  • you can go on the pill. other than that you have to wait for menopause

  • Ha, wow I can't really understand why your complaining. I'm on birth control and I have my cycle twice within a month.. Sometimes I have it for a couple of days, stops for one day, the next day, bam another period. It's heavy flow to light.
Why would you want to get rid of something that is naturally healthy for you? You cannot get rid of it completely.. Not till you're over 50

  • Pill might help. Other than that, there are ways to burn the tissue in your womb, but you can't get pregnant anymore after that. Pill will be your solution. But I agree: periods suck !

  • There are several methods of boyfriend you can use to stop or alter your period. Talk to your obgyn about your options.

    • *bc not boyfriend.

  • I had extremely heavy periods at your age which impaired my ability to function and think. I had this horrible "brain fog" 2 weeks before my period even began. The pill has helped tremendously, but there are many side effects, so talk to a parent about your concerns. The pill regulates your period, and makes it easier to deal with.

  • I know u don't wanna hear this, sorry, but GET OVER IT... Jeez... It's a natural thing, so u just have to deal with it. I've had my period for 7 years and guess what? Sometimes it's so irregular, sometimes it comes at the beginning of the month, sometimes at the end, but I don't complain coz it's useless, I suggest u to do the same ✌️ Enjoy life and learn how to deal with this friend that visits once a month, receive ir with arms open 😛

  • The pill is "birth control", but essentially it's female sex hormones. Due to its dosage being specified day by day (you have to take a pill every day once at the same time at night), it forces your body to align to the pattern the hormones in the pills define, so you'll have a regular 28 day cycle.

My sister had a 14 day cycle. It gives you anemia (iron deficiency), so they put her on the pill. She's had a 28-day cycle since.

  • Oh please... get over it. Think of women hundreds of years ago who had no medicine, pads, surgeries, or anything to comfort themselves. If you really want, you can save up money with a job and get surgery that will end your period, if you're really that sensitive to pain. *rolls eyes* this generation is so weak..

    • well, agreed to most of it. except the pain part. I don't know how much pain the Asker has and it could just be intolerance to it. But I've had pains that wouldn't even go after having an anti-spasmodic tablet. Severe cramps suck. They totally disable me.

    • @tellmefantasies There are exceptions to everything but odds are this girl is like 99% of the population and is exaggerating her period. I only experienced one time a period so bad I considered going to the hospital. Had to wait for the meds to kick in. I also noticed that exercise, water, and cutting caffeine and junk food in general out of your diet helps soothe periods.. I barely feel my period when I'm healthier. Also, certain meds might not work for you. Advil never works for me for some reason but Ibuprofen does.

    • I'm only worried when I take meds that my body should not get used to it. I already feel that happening, that my tolerance has increased. Few years back, 1-2 was enough. Now I get pains even on the 5th day and I take a minimum of 3-4 tablets through my period. I try to bear it and look for alternatives like frankincense essential oil. It helps me calm down, but it's still whack-a-mole. Junk food I haven't touched in a long while. But my sleep routine is zonked. I'm trying to bring my health cycle under check and hope it helps.

  • Yes the pill will work. All you need to do is go to the doctors they will prescribe you the pill and you just take it everyday and it will get rid of your period or make it regular and it also makes you have less painful cramps and less blood

  • That happens when you're very young in age, I had the same problem when I was 16 and even less. It'll improve as you get older, just dont take any pills you'll just mess with your system which isn't very good for you cause your body is still developing.

  • Well you could be like me and just be born sterile, or you can have your ovaries removed. Beyond that you will have a period until you're around 50.

Count your blessings kid, some people have a lot worse shit to deal with than period drama.

  • Birth control might help. Trust me, once it evens out it's less of a nuciance

  • Imagine having your period for 11-days heavy flow with bad cramps feeling like your going to die. Thank goodness yours stops and doesn't last forever like me.

  • Going on the BBC pill won't stop your period but it will regulate it.

  • You have boobs, you have pussy, you have uterus, you have ovaries, then you will have to have periods. Period.

  • If you go on the pill it helps regulate your period and makes it a lot less heavy
