  • Pro, the health and hygiene benefits are worth it. I'm glad I was circumcised as a baby. It's not mutilation, we just have people on here who are just whiny and overly sensitive. People get tracheotomies against their will when they fall into comas, but the removal of external foreskin riles people up. It's not even an invasive surgery. You don't have to worry about smegma, phimosis , and other potential intact problems along the way. Some adult men need circumcisions for medical reasons, but circumcising as an adult is riskier, more expensive, and the recovery time is longer. You also don't heal as well. Neonatal circumcisions are a one time, preventative surgery. Also, if it was mutilation, how were men able to reproduce and sexually function for thousands of years where circumcisions were historically prevalent? It has a long track record of not impairing sexual function. The arguments of loosing sensation, and natural lubrication by removing the foreskin, is not confirmed by the WHO at this time. I trust medical associations and objective pros and cons listed, over the general population any day of the week.

    • No it's not. their bodies their choice. if it's their choice, and that they are consenting, yes. if they're literal childrens who don't know what's happening NO ! NO NO NO ! That's disgusting !

  • Circumcised and against it.

God did command it of the Hebrew nation in the Old Testament, but it was a part of the Covenant between the Hebrew nation, and him. The New Testament also specifically says "For by grace are you saved through faith and not of yourselves, it is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast."

So, I'm opposed. There's no real good reason for non-Hebrew westerners to do it. I understand it's gaining ground in Africa because of how insanely rampant HIV is do to promiscuity/failure to understand or care about safe sex/rape and circumcision helps prevent it, but until Westerners devolve to that point, we have no reason.

    • No, you have more chance of getting HIV if you're circumcised...

  • I am against circumcision on anyone, male or female. To me it just seems crazy to choose to cut off part of someone's body! Of course if they choose to do it themselves as an adult, then that's ok because it's their body to do with as they will.

I have no problem with being with a guy who is circumcised the same way I have no problem with with a guy who isn't! I just have a problem with parents deciding to cut off part of their child's body, that's all.

  • I don't mind it. I prefer the appearance of circumsized penises. I will probably have my future sons cut, although it'll be largely up to my husband. From what I've heard from my friends with kids, "guys are WEIRD about their sons' penises." Both my friends' husbands insisted their sons got circumsized. The wives didn't care either way.

    • But if you / your friends prefer circumcised, why would they/you not care and defer to a husband?

    • @wywynot Well, my preference for sexual partners doesn't necessarily transfer to what I'd feel for a son lol. If you prefer blonde women, for example, would you dye your daughter's hair blonde?

    • When you put it like that, it also makes it sound odd for the guy to demand it done too.

  • I'd prefer a guy to be uncircumcised. I don't agree with circumcision for no reason on young children that have no idea what's going on and might grow up to regret my decision making, unless it's something that I need to do for medical reasons. Circumcision is pretty awful.

  • I think its an insane and sick procedure to force on babies.
Let them choose when they're older.
Teaching your kids how to wash themselves is something that should be standard.

Its just yet another demented tradition that religion has brought on society.

    • Can you imagine how much it would hurt doing it as an adult? It needs to be done as an infant. I was circumsized as an infant and I'm really glad that I was. I don't see why anyone would be against it.

    • @ShayanMortazavi1 As an adult they would anesthetize you. They dont do that for babies.

    • Well still, infants can't feel pain

  • Against. As a feminist, I would not be OK with people circumcising baby girls, so if I was OK with people circumcising baby boys, I'd be a hypocrite. Everyone deserves a right to bodily autonomy, and that includes boys and men.

    • It would not make you a hypocrite. Circumcisions on girls/women serve no health purpose whatsoever. It's cruel and barbaric. It is usually done to girls who are of school age, not as an infant. They are held down forcibly, often by family members, and scarred for life both physically and emotionally. Male circumcision serves hygienic purposes throughout a man's life, reduces likelihood of contracting certain STD's, and can be more pleasurable to his partner during intercourse. And male circumcision, aside from rare decisions by adults, it typically performed on babies within hours to days of birth. This does cause pain, but nerves are still not completely formed and the child will feel far less pain and have no recollection of the event in the future.

    • @Bigbear83 hygienic purposes? I have a high enough view of men that they can handle 5 extra seconds in the shower cleaning a foreskin. Well, condoms can also reduce std likelihood. And research actually shows that partners of men with *un*circumcised penises have more pleasure during sex.

  • Everything has both sides, to me for health sake, it is good.

  • Love it, easier on the mouth and safer for the pum pum

  • i hold the same contempt for male genital mutilation as i do for female genital mutilation. both are backwards and have the same justifications yet they shame countries like egypt/sudan/somalia who have it for females. it's all equally barbaric to me

  • It's an extremely barbaric ritual that was commercialized in the USA to rip ignorant people off who believe false trends over valuing the physical integrity of their own children.

Most claims in support of circumcision are false, it's only prominent in the USA and in Islamic countries. That in itself should be an indicator of just how backwards it is to chop off perfectly functional parts of the human body just because some people think it looks pretty.

  • I am against it unless for medical reasons.

  • I like a guy who has been circumcised more simply because it is cleaner. If you haven't been circumcised you have to clean it more thoroughly plus you have to move the fireskin when you are doing sexual acts, it just all together gets in the way. Not that I wouldn't ever be with a guy if he wasn't circumcised because if I like his personality then his duck doesn't matter

  • I'm circumcised, so I'm in favor and appreciative of it

  • Well as a religious person I support it and as someone who is cut I don't mind it honestly I mean it really has no negative impacts.

  • It is genital mutilation that is inflicted upon infant boys without their informed consent.
It is, therefore, a criminal assault of the most heinous kind.

  • I prefer circumcised but all the men I've been with have been

  • Against,

  • Against. I'm circumcised and I think it should have been my decision not someone else.

  • Snip snip did give me a benefit but damn, its a bitch of a procedure snipping the skin off. #Fucking #SnipSnip

  • It should be banned. Or circumcise the females too or else the matter won't be noticed because its happening to boys not girls...

    • Circumcision of males has actual benefits. Circumcision of women is performed to remove the clitoris and try to prevent women from being able to orgasm during sex, reducing the chance they will cheat on their husbands. It's barbaric and mysoginistic and you are an idiot.

    • @Bigbear83 I am Idiot. Thanks

    • @Bigbear83 Thats pretty much the same reason why circumcision was pushed in America. To prevent boys from masturbation. Also interesting that pretty much only US health organisations think circumcision has actual benefits that (hippocratic oath anyone?) overcome the risks any procedure involve. The very majority of european organisations are strictly against it. Some say that the advantages are so minor that they don't overcome the risks of any procedure and others go so far and deny the so-called advantages like the HIV study being majorly flawed.

  • I don't see why anyone would be against it. I was circumsized as an infant and I'm really glad that I was.

  • I don't have any experience of it, fortunately. They say it leads to reduced sensation during sex but I haven't seen any evidence of that. But I'm against it because, you know, who carries out unnecessary surgery on an infant? Some kind of psycho, right?

  • I am against it.
