I don't really care so long as it's well taken care of. I generally prefer no hair, but don't mind the bumps--I don't expect it to *always* be completely free of any perceivable hair. Just as long as it doesn't take up the entire pubic region: the lower stomach area. Eeeck. But it seriously bugs me when hair covers the clit.
Anyway, I keep mine shaved. Err. Not my pussy. You know what I mean. Doesn't really hurt. And you know, I've got the thinner, more vulnerable skin to shave. Pretty sure it's harder to shave balls than it is labia majora. You just have to be careful and use shaving cream. And not use a dull razor. Hot water before shaving to open the pores, cold water after shaving to close the pores, which minimizes ingrown hairs or itchyness or something. Although, growing a cactus in your pants is really uncomfortable.
But yes, as some have stated, waxing or laser hair removal is ideal. If you can deal with the pain, they do have some sort of tool that you roll over the pubic area that rips the hair out from the root. Basically dry waxing without wax. But you'd have to deal with the pain of all the hair getting ripped out. And I forget what it's called.

Depending on how well I have kept up with if, I always try to keep it smooth. If I do not have a consistent sexual schedule, I will shave it every week to keep it manageable. When I'm in a consistent committed sexual relationship, I consistently eppilate most of it and shave the tough angles before I know I will have playtime later that day. If I'm transitioning into a sexual relationship, I will first shave, let it grow out to a shore even length, then get it waxed, and then restart the epilating and shaving routine
I don't shave it cos ingrown hair and makes the hair more coarse and feels uncomfortable/itchy when it grows out/starts growing out again.
That being said, I wax and I do it myself using hard wax that's meant for Brazilian waxing. It hurts like hell for the first 10x or so but you get used to it eventually that it doesn't hurt you and the result is very rewarding, in my opinion.

I cannot tell a lie and say it doesn't hurt because it jolly well does, at least the first half a dozen sessions or so.. But it really does get a lot easier the more you have.. The cost here in the UK varies from around £25 to about £40 depending on how much you have done.. Sometimes I have a landing strip left, other times am as smooth as a baby's bottom!

You may want to invest in waxing, its way easier and less hassle, I haven't shaved since I was 16, no razor burn or ingrown hairs when you wax.

On a woman, in my not so humble opinion. The less hair the better, except on her head, then I like long hair. I know its a pain and time consuming, but I do appreciate it. I reciprocate too. I shave the base of the shaft and balls, trim the rest up nice n short. I've even shaved my whom body for a woman before. I hated it and after we broke up I went back to trimmed, but I did it for her and didn't grumble.
