Just something he does as an adolescent... He's being juvenile and thinking it's cute.. There's nothing "cute" about hickeys. I was there when I was younger and did it so that other people would see my girlfriend was in a relationship, but now that I look back on it- that was completely stupid of me.

He may have been with someone who enjoyed hickeys before. One of my ex girlfriends enjoyed getting hickeys. It's also often though of as cute. Like he's marking you.  Just tell him to stop.

Yup. He thinks that if another guy is seeing your chest, it will raise questions like, "OMG, she has a hickey here and I didn't give it to her.. she's with someone else too..."
