Why would my boyfriend lie about not being a virgin?

My boyfriend and I have been going out for quite a few months. A few days ago we got into a fight about a girl texting him that he had told me he had sex with (before we ever started dating). When the fight got extreme, because I didn't like him texting girls he slept with, he told me he never had sex with anyone before we started dating and that he was a virgin and I had taken his virginity. When we first started dating he said he had been with a couple of girls, now he says that was all false and he made it up because he was embarrassed and nervous about being a virgin. My question is why would you lie and say you had sex with SPECIFIC PEOPLE (whom I've been avoiding because I didn't want to run into girls my boyfriend supposedly had sex with) and is he actually telling me the truth? Or did he just say he was a virgin so I would stop being mad about him texting this girl?

There's a saying that goes "Take any number a guy gives you about how many women he is has slept with and divide it by 3. Take any number a woman gives you and multiple by 3."

Just like we want to impress guys, they want to impress us. They want us to think that they are the best choice. And one of the ways they do that is by making us thinking they have had more sex then they have or by making us think they have had more girlfriends then they have.

One of my boyfriends told me once that the first girl he slept with he had convinced her he was a total player and knew all the right moves in bed. But the first time he was with her he was practically sweating from fear. But he stumbled through trying to make it seem like he knew what he was doing.

Guys have a lot of pressure to be really good in bed. Woman don't have that. Even really promiscuous women don't come out and admit to a huge amount of partners. We don't have that pressure to amaze and perform in the bedroom.



While no lie is good, I think he was just try to impress you. He could be lying now that he didn't sleep with those girls but I'm guessing he was lying about not being a virgin.

But either way, if it bothers you that he is texting women, I would talk to him about that.

Could be either way. I had a boyfriend that said he had sex with a girl, then went back on it, because he was embarrassed. I'm still not sure because he found out that I'd rather him be a virgin (no risk of STD). Either way, he lied to you at some point about a VERY important issue. You may want to think about if this is a guy you really care about, and if he is, you should know that being honest about previous partners is really important, so you know how high your risk of contracting an STD is.

That's really bad that he isn't telling you the truth. This is something that could endanger your health. If you want to, get tested without him knowing. Right now, words mean nothing if he can just do a complete 180 on you after saying the 'truth'. I would have a hard time trusting a guy like that. Rethink if you're with this guy for the right reasons.

Did he seem like he knew what he was doing the first time you had sex? If so then he was not a virgin. As for the lying about sex or no sex with others does it really matter? Its a lie and a trust issue. A lie about sex will only lead to more lies about sex. I hate to say it but I would not trust the guy. Also he must think you are pretty shallow if he thought you would give him a hard time about being a virgin.

If you can't understand why a male lies, and if it really seems unreasonable, it is because of EGO.

He is embarassed to be a virgin, meaning that he is embarassed to be inexperienced.

I'm going threw the same exact thing right now! Except we been together for almost 2years!!! So I don't know if he said it for me to shut up or if he's lying like about all the girls he supposedly slept with... I don't know
