What do guys think when their girl is on her period?

I hate my period. It's always so embarrassing and vulnerable. I just got with a guy and it's my first period week with him. I feel like I wanna run and hide until I'm back to normal. I don't wanna tell him I'm on it. How do guys respond to periods? Can guys tell when you're on your period? What do guys think when their girl is on her period?

  • Please please please change the way you think about your body. A period isn't embarrassing or abnormal and you shouldn't feel like you need to hide yourself because of it. If your guy has had any sort of sexual or biological education he will be aware of the fact that all women get periods as a part of their natural reproductive cycle. I used to be shy about it with guys as well, but as you can see from the answers here, and as you WILL see as you date more men, they get that it happens, and the majority of them don't care that much. You don't have to have sex on your period, though I honestly haven't yet dated a guy who's turned it down, but it's really not a big deal. Almost every time I've told a guy "I have my period" in regards to having sex, they've always just said, "So? We'll just put a towel down." Guys respond fine to periods, they know it's normal. Yes you can tell a guy you're on your period, and if you're dating and having unprotected sex, you absolutely SHOULD.

  • Honestly, I want to be completely left alone and I know the guy is thinking 'no sex for me tonight'. But it doesn't matter what he thinks, when I start, I want to be alone for a couple days.

  • Have you thought of trying the pill?

  • I think it's normal… nothing to be embarrassed about, though I suppose I can understand that you may not feel like yourself. With my gal, I can often tell it's coming because of the moodiness in the days before. But if I miss the cues, I can't tell when it's in progress unless she tells me. I don't think I have a specific response. It's not like I avoid her or act a certain way. If she's crying or sad, I try to offer comfort or humor, but that's at any time of the month. As for sex, she's usually much less interested, but when she is it doesn't bother me at all. When we were younger, day 1 used to be quite painful with cramps. I got the idea that it could be massaged like any other cramping muscle and did that for her. She thought I was weird at first, but it brought real relief. That and a glass of wine.

  • I get what you mean, no idea what's it's like being on your period, but I don't like being around people when I'm sick, I guess it's the same kind of feeling. My girl is very open about those things, however I could tell when she was on her period beforehand given she'd start having mood-swings and then would go hot and cold with me. But I never mentioned it of course, I know how much girls hate guys talking about them being on their period, lol.

  • i don't really think anything. i know they happen so there isn't much to do about it. it's a natural part female biology

  • My first girlfriend admitted to me that she had a cribriform hymen. She thought there was something wrong with her because she was never getting her period. It turns the hymen was blocking the period blood from ever coming out. Eventually a doctor made an incision to cut open her hymen and months worth of menstruation came pouring out. Let's just say that periods don't bother me when I hear that extreme.

    • Oops sorry it was an imperforate hymen**

  • If I had a girlfriend I'd just try to be understanding whilst also not getting in her way. I'd just retreat to a safe distance and throw chocolate at her and approach only for when hugging or whatever is needed lol

    • That made me laugh 😂 "throw chocolate at her"

  • Usually can tell because she's more Moody but the sex is great, messy, but great :-D

  • In relationships I would encourage full and open communication - Tell him what is going on and why you are like this for a few days - I would be okay with it, all women have it.

  • We're frustrated for you and sympathetic. Nobody enjoys periods.

  • Hiding is not a good option. Tell your boyfriend that you are on period and that you need him to know that. Most boys know what a period means and how girls feel emabarased , moody and uncomfortable. They get pain and discharge. Ask him if he can be by your side or not.

  • I go up to her and I look her in the eye and go darlin? Lets just watch tv, eat ice cream and nap all day,

  • I will run around yelling that the red monster has arrived.

  • I'm very meh about it.

Like when someone says they're sick, I'm like, need me to getcha somethin or are ya good?

  • I'd be praying to baby jebus that I don't do anything to piss her off..

  • Depends. For me, the period is divided into two parts:

The age of aggression: When she gets really horny at which point I crack my knuckles and say "Let's do this."

The age of oppression: When she get's really bitchy and lazy at which point I say "Okay, I'll take care of you but only as long as you respect me."

  • I think to myself, "hey, she's on her period."

  • It's the week of bullshit

I just leave her alone to ride it out

  • I think it sucks to be you; must be pretty annoying but that's the price of being the bearer of children. It's natural and nothing to be ashamed of; don't ask me if I want to earn my "red-wings" though...

    • What are red wings

    • @SuperNovaRoyalty It means performing oral sex on you while you're on your period.

  • I think as a Muslim I'm not supposed to 🤔

  • they want to fuck you but they really don't want to go down on you during your period.

  • I think they can smell females

  • I just want to massage her cramps away.

  • I don't have a girl. Never had a girl. If I did have a girl and she was on her period, I would probably try my best not to piss her off
