Is it wrong to ask for a female doctor for this problem?

So I got a problem called phimosis, which is where my penis won't retract the skin. I want to go to the doctor but I'm afraid of going to my male family doctor. Why? Well I've had an embarrassing problem before where he had to touch my genitals and getting an erection was the most embarrassing feeling ever. If I get one from a female doctor than it's seems just a little less embarrassing. However should penis problems be felt by a male doctor? I'm not doing this just for some weird sexual thrill I have a real problem. And it makes sense for women to ask for a specific gender of a doctor if she's has an issue so can I ask for that too? Any suggestions?

  • You're free to ask but based on the reasoning you gave as to why you want a female doctor versus male, it sounds like you're looking at this as a sexual encounter. Regardless of whether the doctor who will be assessing your penis due to phimosis, it's going to be purely professional. Just because you may get a female doctor doesn't mean she's going to give you a handjob/suck you off in order to get you sufficiently hard or something.

    • obviously i know that. the point is getting an erection in front of the doctor when they examine me is embarrassing. i wish i didn't have to go , but i do. Getting an erection from a man is much much worse. it just feels so uncomfortable. However going to a female doctor doesn't automatically make it comfortable or even sexual. Besides, women ask for a specific gender when getting gynecology exam. why can't i do the same? Besides i won't be asking "can i have a female doctor", ill just go to a doctors office that has a female doctor.

    • As far as I know, the doctor isn't the one who will be getting you hard? I mean, how do you imagine the female doctor would get you hard- by showing you her tits or something? Any way, you can do whatever the fuck you want. I don't know for what reason you seem to have internalized imaginary people telling you you can't request a female doctor to 'get you hard' because I haven't at any point told you that's something you can or can't do.

    • lol by touching my penis

  • Doctors, both male and female, have seen it all. Other than your own personal comfort level, it doesn't really matter one way or the other. Go to a specialist!

  • A drop of baby oil and every day try to pull the skin back a little more to strech it.

  • It's more important to find a urologist who is someone you can trust. Ask on a local message board for recommendations, and make sure that you find a urologist that will work with you to cure the phimosis rather than knee-jerk resorting to circumcision- this can be difficult to find in the United States unfortunately.

  • I see a female doctor and I prefer to see a female Doctor.

  • just go to your regular doctor

  • No, choosing something more comfortable for you is not wrong. It's her job, I doubt she'd care, probably not the first time.
