Why do guys lie about their virginity?

I know a lot of guys and when the question about virginity comes up they all say "Hell no I ain't a virgin" lol... But the thing is you can tell just by hanging out with some of them that they are in fact still holding their V-cards lol... Back to my question, Why do guys lie about that kinda thing? Thanks

  • Because guys are worried that they will be judged harshly for being a virgin (similar to the way that girls are often judged harshly if they are not).

Their male friends may tease them about not getting laid, and they worry that girls will think they don't know what they're doing when it comes to sex, so they'll be bad lovers, or that girls will think they must be "weird" and that they are virgins because "no girl has wanted to have sex with them". There's also the view that "everyone else is doing it", so they lie because they don't want to be seen as the "odd man out".

I think for a lot of guys, the older they are, the more likely they'll lie about it (but that isn't always the case) because they think it makes them seem more "weird".

  • Easy. They think there better or that your more likely to sleep with them if you think he's experiencedand can handle it better. It's a guy thing I believe. Some will lie that they are virgins just so you won't think about the other girls they have been with. There could be plenty of other reasons a guy might give.

  • -They think it makes them "cool"

-It makes them feel better about themselves

    -They're Insecure

    -They in fact,can't get laid

  • They think it makes them a man, and yes they think it's cool... Telling a girl that you aren't a virgin is probably done to 'fake experience', because they think a girl wants a guy who knows what he's doing and that it will somehow boost their chances of getting any. And I agree it's easy to tell who is a virgin, they'll simply say 'oh, I banged this girl last night' they don't show any more knowledge of what it's like how they do it, what they did... they show no sort of emotion or respect. If I sleep with someone I'm not going to tell everyone and brag about it, it's disrespecful and frankly it's no one elses business.

  • Because we get hounded even more than usual when they know even if they are virgins too. It's just easier to lie to them about it.

    • I do think that it is better to have a guy come out and tell me that he was virgin cause my friends confessed and my are closer and stuff. It makes me think that they are stronger people.

    • I meant guy friends. That's a completely different ball game.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • Why do guys lie? Because everyone lies. Girls lie about it too. No one wants to admit they're in their twenties and have not had sex. From my perspective, I've met a few ladies who said they had men on the side. They didn't. It's just a weird thing. No one in their twenties is supposed to be a virgin because society says so. Real truth; most people don't have sex

  • This is very simple. Girls don't like male virgins. Other guys look down on male virgins. Therefore, guys lie about it. Not very complicated.

  • how can you tell, I can't tell a ho from a good girl

  • Because guys wouldn't pass up getting laid normally right? (unless he's extremely religious or there's some other extenuating circumstance). That means telling a girl he's a virgin means he's never had a girl who wanted to lay him. There may be many reasons for that (looks, immaturity, fear, etc.), but I can't think of any that are very flattering no matter how you spin it. Why would he want to admit that? All of us have an ego and any guy would have a tough time handling that. Maybe it's not a bad thing at all for a guy to have his V-card, but he's definitely not going to get any glory for it. Just turn on the TV and you can see that underlying sentiment on some of the most popular shows around. Look at Two and a Half Men and Charlie. Need I say more?
