  • I'm uncircumcised and I've yet to have a relationship (because I'm kind of reserved). I didn't even learn about it until I was in my teens. It was a relief because I was always self conscious about my penis because I thought there was something wrong with me. Turns out it wasn't the case. I thought girls would think it was ugly or something.

But now that I've learned about it, I love my penis. I wouldn't give up my foreskin for any money. But you can see why I get depressed when people (especially girls) say that circumcised penises are better. I think the unaltered female body is perfect in every way and I hate that people should think males should be surgically altered in order to be considered acceptable. It's simply ignorant.

Despite our supposedly "sexually progressive" society we seem to have a lot of fears about our bodies and we believe in things that are largely myth. What passes for common knowledge these days about circumcision is largely bunk. North American society in particular and even the medical community continues to remain ignorant in this area.

The argument that it keeps the penis cleaner is complete crap. We just assume that because it's a moist, warm environment that it's dirty. In fact, that environment serves to harbor "good bacteria" that defend the penis from infection. Because we feel so negatively about the natural male penis, too many men clean it with soap which kills all bacteria indiscriminately which opens the door for infection which of course just gives circumcision's proponents ammunition. Women who douche encounter the same problem.

Men have a prepuces for a reason. If they truly did us harm natural selection would have eliminated them all together long ago. Circumcision cuts off some of the most sensitive parts of the penis. With out the protective sheath of the foreskin, the glans becomes dry and harder from constant exposure to air and clothing and sensitivity is reduced. I get much more pleasure from my foreskin alone than the glans. I can orgasm solely from stimulating it and it's much more satisfying to me.

Females have a prepuce too. The inside tissues of the vulva are mucous membranes not unlike the inside of the male foreskin. Women get smegma too. Should their genitals be altered too? The clitoral hood is the female analogue of the foreskin but when the female prepuce is removed it's considered female genital mutilation. Male circumcision should be considered likewise. Every male should have the right to intact genitalia. It's just a barbaric procedure. It did originate as a religious right but when it was brought to western society, circumcision without anesthetic was often used as punishment for masturbation. The oft cited belief about cleanliness probably originates from such unenlightened people.

Thankfully the medical community is coming around. The AMA now recognizes the procedure as unnecessary but the general public is still in the dark. I'm vehemently against the procedure.

    • Thank you for the great information. I have but one correction when a clitorectomy is performed then a woman can never ( or EXTREMELY) unlikely they will ever achieve orgasm. The clitoral net work starts at the hood and continues into the vagina and beyond. We have 16000 nerve endings in the network and the largest receptor is that tiny little "button".

    • A clitorectomy is the removal of the clitoris itself which would be more analogous to a glansectomy for a man (removal of the head of the penis) than a circumcision. I was only talking about the clitoral prepuce (hood).

    • So then you have medical background in all of this?

  • I'm circumsized because of medical reasons. I was about 6 I believe. But to make a long story short, I don't really feel a difference between it. Circumsized penises are just more hygienic I think.

    • Thanks for taking the time to respond :)

    • I could care less if a man is circumcised or not. I've had lovers with each kind and all were fine in bed (I'm an American woman living in the US if it matters). Hygiene was never an issue for either of them. I know of one man (a friend, not a lover) who states his circumcision is so tight that he has an uncomfortable tightness when he gets aroused. So that would be a downside to circing, plus any other surgical complications that could happen. I'm not sure why a woman would be grossed out. It'

I'm not sure why a woman would be grossed out. It's a natural body part that a man is born with - it's supposed to be there! It's not some anomaly like a third hand or something.

And since Biblical circumcision was brought up I'd just like to say that the act isn't required of Christians thanks to the coming of Christ (all those years of Catholic school did teach me something). It's in the New Testament. The only thing that is required of Christians is the spiritual (and metaphorical) circumcision of the heart, not the physical act of cutting the penis.

As far as gay men, I have 3 gay friends. I asked them. Two love foreskin and one isn't a fan. To each his own, I suppose. My straight, female friends have never said if they have a preference or not. So I'm guessing it's not that big of a deal.

    • Right on!

  • I prefer a guy with a circumsized penis. For one I've never come across a guy with an uncircumsized one, and two, the pictures I've seen of them are just unattractive to me. I think they look better circumsized and would tend to be cleaner.

    • Could you tell the difference? For many intact men, the foreskin retracts upon erection and looks very much like a circumcised penis. Also, I find it so depressing that women consider the natural male penis to be unattractive.

    • I see nothing wrong with personal choice. We did however have a discussion last night. If you were really into a guy loved everything about him then found out he was uncut would it make a difference?
