Why is virginity such a big deal?

why does it matter if someone has had sex or not? someones sex life should be private and it shouldn't matter what experience they have had. Like in high school why is it 'uncool' to be a virgin? or if you get past a certain age and are you still a virgin then you are considered weird. Why? I'm 20 and I'm still a virgin. In fact I haven't even had my first kiss yet! but people think that's strange and not normal.

it is unusual. but it shouldn't be. these days everyones values seem to be completly f***ed. I'm no betty but if someone made fun of me or anyone I knew because I was a virgin and hadn't been kissed at the age of even 22 id tell them well your obviously not the person I want to be with for the rest of my life lol. some women think oh I'm not having sex with him but ill makeout with whoever...? kisses used to be almost as precious to a women as her viginity.i hope you find a man that will appreciate your values and treats you like a jewel in a coal mine because that's what you are...sorry for the speech iget worked up lol

Thankyou :) I just don't see why it should matter if someone is a virgin. It shouldn't be anyone elses business. It's not that I havn't had a chance, because I have. I just havnt met the right person. I don't see why people have to rush into loosing their virginity. I'm not religious or anything but I would like to meet someone special to share it with. But people seem to think I'm a prude if I don't want to make out with them. But I would only do that if I was dating them.

That's just how society is. Majority of people love to have something "gossipy" to talk about and see other people's sex lives as the "hot topic." Just ignore all of their comments and stick to your morals. Its your life and not theirs. Honestly a lot of people are probably envious of you that you've managed to keep your virginity.

I just turned 21. I can't stand being the only person that's done nothing. How is it not weird when you're the only person out of most. I don't know that the percentage is, but I bet the percentage that someone has at least done something with the opposite sex is a hell of a lot higher then hasn't. I haven't even cuddled yet. It's extremely depressing. How long am I gonna have to wait? Am I just gonna have to pay a girl someday?
