Like, you get an erection and you press it against her, maybe against her back and hugging her while she's doing something, or while hugging her in public...? My boyfriend presses his boner against me sometimes, like when we're hugging or something... he doesn't say anything about it, but it's like he does it just to show me it's there... but DOES he really do it on purpose?

Those things just pop up, its not just really like we can control them. For most guys its not on purpose. Hugging you and pressing it against you is just a reaction to us being attracted to you.

The hug and the erection is the mans body reacting to you. Both of which isn't something that we think logically and go hey should I get a boner? should I hug her? no.

And even if the guy is in his head thinking (should I hug her) he's probably not going to if he notices he has a boner.

So your answer is no, he's not doing it on purpose. And yes sometimes he wants you to notice.

To answer your question update---> I do it on purpose sometimes just to let her know how much she turns me on and it feels good. Because if we were making or doing something that would ordinarily give him a boner, and he randomly told me he had one I'd be like "So? Why are you telling me this?
