Is it okay to throw away your used pads at someone else's house?

I'm going over to my friends house with a bunch of other girls for her birthday party and it's a sleepover. I'm on my period and I wasn't sure if it was okay to throw away your used pads at someone else's house. Like I don't want her mom to see it and be like "Oh.. I don't want other girls' gross used pads in my bathroom." lol.. or something like that. That would be so embarrassing..Like is it wrong to do that? I mean.. what else am I going to do with it... I feel really weird about it.

  • A bathroom is a bathroom. If they're expecting and 'allowing' you and all these other girls over for a sleepover, I think it's generally assumed that it's okay and expected for you to use their bathroom. For any of the usual purposes. That's something you have to accept when you have a bunch of girls stay at your house. She'd be stupid not to. Plus I doubt any adult woman would have that kind of reaction. =] She sees pads or tampon wrappers and whatnot in any bathroom she goes into, anywhere, at some point or another, if there are women who use it. She probably won't even notice or think anything of it.

Just wrap it up well, so that any mess or 'grossness' factor is hidden, and throw it away like you would anywhere. Even shove it to the bottom of the trash can if you're that embarrassed about it, haha.

  • Most women are mature enough to realize that periods are natural things and that pretty much every woman that is post-pubescent and pre-menopausal gets them. I doubt she'd even notice, and if she did, she wouldn't care. If you really feel embarrassed, cover it with some toilet paper/hide it at the bottom of the trash, but seriously, it's not a big deal.

  • Are you can throw it outside in the big trash can..are when you throw it away in there trash you can camoflauge it really good..bloody pads are not a good smell by the way..errr

  • Of course it's okay. Especially her (and her mom) being a girl she will not care one bit. Just be polite about it and wrap it in some toilet paper before you put it in the garbage so it's not completely obvious there is something bloody in the trash can.

    • I just find it funny that even a guy knows the proper etiquette for this... Nice :)

  • Yes, wrap them tightly in several layers of toilet paper so they to not get "gamey" before the basket is emptied.
