Aquaphor for anal sex...Am I going to be okay?

Long story short, my man and I were pretty drunk the other night and having sex and he wanted to put it in my butt. I said he could but only if he used lube which we didn't have. So he ended up using Aquaphor (type of like cream lotion thing for burns or chapped lips) This was a couple days ago but 1) am I gonna be ok And 2) is Aquafor OK to use in the future?

Google says it's a petroleum jelly I don't know if that changes anything

  • It's better not to use oil based lubricants like petroleum jelly because the body can't dissolve/flush them out like water based. They can leave a residue behind that will allow bacteria to survive and grow that might not otherwise. Also, if you are using protection and aren't "fluid-bonded" (monogamous without protection) oil based lubes will chew through most condoms.

There is a brand called Elbow Grease which creates an oil based and water based lube that is thick and will last with anal sex. Other good lubricants are Maximus, Slick, etc... You want to use a heavier/thicker lubricant and preferably something that doesn't use glycerin as this can cause yeast infections if they get into the vagina and aren't cleaned up.

  • If it's a balm like I'm imagining, you'll probably be fine. If this was a few nights ago, and you haven't felt any ill effects yet other than a very sore ass, you'll almost certainly be fine. However, I recommend in the future using an actual "intimate" lubricant rather than whatever happens to be lying around. There's a reason the stuff is so slick.

    • agree

    • Ya it's like a balm. I looked it up online and I guess it's 'petroleum jelly'

    • Yeah. For anal you want to go slow and use something really slick. Petrolium jelly is kind of slick, but you need something much more slippery, at least the slickness of vegetable oil, and slicker would be better. Be very careful about that - I hear anal fissures are mighty unpleasant.

  • If you're going to have anal sex, you MUST use condoms and plenty of REAL LUBE that's made for sex. Anal has enough risks even when you are as careful as you can be. Some of the dangers include: increased risk of STD/STI transmission, loss of control over the bowels, torn skin, and lethal infections. If you're careful you should be able to avoid these but if you're not, you could very well end up in the ER.

    • "you MUST use condoms" may be an issue for prolonging the experience. Some guys are not that sensitive when wearing condoms and the act of anal sex which would have lasted perhaps 5 minutes can go on longer until he finishes. I do agree it should be used if you are not married to the partner, etc.

    • Not only is STD transmission a higher risk wih anal, but it's dangerous for the man because his penis is coming into contact with bacteria that is meant to stay inside the anus and can cause problems when it gets into other areas. And if the woman has tears in her skin due to anal sex, a bowel movement, etc. that become infected, those infections can pass to him. It has nothing whatsoever to do with marriage.

    • It can also be a problem for semen to get inside the anus. Please remember that the anus is not equipped for sex.

  • The reason that people say not to use lotion as lube is because if you are using it with a condom it can cause the condom to wear down and break. I would really advise just buying some lube to be on the safe side.

    • True. Not just lotion but also oils.

  • petroleum jelly is the same stuff as vasaline, the problem is, if you are you using condoms, the petroleum jelly will break down the latex in the condom and can cause it to break. So don't use it, just use lube.

  • You should be OK, and I guess your butt won't be cracking up in the near future

  • I don't "believe in" the act itself, but if you must, petroleum jelly is far less slippery than "astroglide" and your poor bottom need all the slippery it can get.

  • Why do You ask? Is some thing not right? If you feel good, no harm done. So I guess you and he both liked it, and want to do it again? If so, get some real lube made for sex. Adam and Eve and Liquid KY come to mind, but try a few diff ones. Test a small sample first to see if it agrees with anus. Some lubes feel diff for diff girls. Once you find one that works, use that. Have fun!

  • Hell, just don't grab a shampoo bottle (Please don't ask) and have sex your d*** will burn for days, you should have saw me waking up the next morning in burning pain it was horrible as HELL haha, me and her were laying around the next couple of days because it burnt so bad. Me and her laughed about it afterward and never did it again.

But anyway you should be perfectly fine and if it starts burning just go see your doctor but for the love of god don't wait it out, haha.

  • you should be fine, but if you plan on doing it more you should get some actual lube

  • Actually Aquaphor is not a petroleum jelly. It is a water (AQUAphor) based version of it though. When I was younger I had acne really bad and went to a dermatologist for it. She gave me some pills for it but she said it would severely dry out my skin. She told me to use Aquaphor as it is water based and rather than clog my pores like an oil based petroleum jelly your skin will just abosrb it. So yes Aquaphor is safe to use.
