How would women/feminists feel if genders were reversed in the "teeth" movie?

So I get told this movie is all about female empowerment and that it's not anti-male...well...lets reverse the situation and see how woman would respond to a movie with the following plot... Theres a guy named Ryan is a well meaning teenager with raging hormones. He hooks up at a party with a girl...latter...that same girl decided she regret the decision and decides to accuse Ryan of rape...it's ruining his life...but then he finds out that his genitals can be used as a weapon during sex...(lets say it develops sharp spikes all over during intercourse or something)...So he seduces the same..gets in bed with her..and uses his "superpower" to mutilate her vagina...leaving her a bloody mess and sobbing over her pain (just like the guys in teeth) as he walks out of the room... So...Feminists and women who like Teeth...is that offensive? Or is that just "male empowerment" that you should be in favor of?

  • I did not even read this. That movie was not about female empowerment. Empowerment is effecting actual positive change for the betterment of humanity. Not biting off a guys cocks. - That's not even fun. it was just made so guys would get mad at girls and girls would get mad at guys- result.

I also think people in general, should stop hiding behind the term feminism because you all just use it as a diversion. By the time anyone establishes what IT ids & what YOU OR HE OR SHE OR WE mean by IT. Anyone still thinking is thinking too much.

It also takes some accountability away from having to actually think. Instead of saying feminism try DEFINING what you are referring to. what it is you are using it as a euphemism for. Apparently according to feminists themselves there are hundreds of different kinds.

So be clear about your argument so people know what the are responding to.

And you left out the option of is neither empowering for women nor for men which ever way you swap roles. The question is biased.

    • that is option I believe in...my point was to show praisers of the movie that they are hypocrits and sexist in their approval of this film and not one like I presented.

    • I don't support the movie female male hermaphrodite transgendered etc etc I think its sick.

    • wait what about transgender?

  • That's a pretty interesting question. I watched that movie & thought it was an okay move, but after watching it, I thought about the same thing you just asked. If men were to create a movie where some guy's genitals mutiliated the female's privates, & boast about male empowerment, many people find that sexist. I've noticed that the media thinks it's okay to be sexist towards men but think it's very wrong to degrate women. You always see commercials where the "dumb" boyfriend messed everything up & the "intelligent & strong" girlfriend fixes everything. If someone reversed those roles, people would be offended. That would be called sexist, & the double standard really isn't fair. I'm all for equal rights, but I don't think we should insult the opposite gender to feel empowered. I understand women used to be surpressed & feel like they have to make up for the past, but there is a better way to go about it. If you have to bring someone down in order to go up, then I don't think it is worth it.

    • thak god ..theres reasonable member of the female sex.

    • @ the "intelligent & strong" girlfriend fixes everything. If someone reversed those roles, people would be offended. most commercials about women involve her getting excited over face cream , lipstick, jeans. deodorant, waiting for the phone to ring, standing there looking passive aggressive with the guy apologizing with flowers, making dinner, looking confused while a guy helps her understand, cleaning a house-what commercials are you watching?

    • Toulose: how about these: link

Theres sexism of all kinds in commercials...im even offended by th fact cleaning commercials always have women in them...like men are just slobs that can't keep a tidy house? but yes there are sexist commercials against men

  • I didn't see the movie teeth... but what you said there sounds like some freaky p*rn thing... lol.

Things are so weird in the movies industry, I doubt it hasn't been made SOMEwhere!

As for would that be male empowerment? No because people would bitch over it. BUT I'd say it was well deserved if that girl falsely accused the guy. I hate it when girls have sex willingly then later regret it and say it was the guy who did it.

I'll even go as far to say girls who get drunk, have sex, are at fault too. Why get so drunk you can't control yourself?! (or defend yourself)

That doesn't mean I believe in rape, no... the guys who force drunk girls to have sex are bad. I'm talking about girls who sleep around when they're drunk and go, it was him... he made me do it.

    • yea...but I for one..think its wrong to remove anyones genitals for any reason.

    • yeah, I don't think you should do that either. I'm just saying whatever came to that girl/guy they asked for it. However, the crime has to fit the punishment. I mean, a rapist being castrated or having his d*ck removed is fine by me... If he can't be trusted to use it properly, why have it? For women rapists, I don't know... maybe taking some fingers off... I'm not sure what to do for that one...

    • i still disagree with that...i don't think we need to hack off peoples body parts...even criminals...but I was jsut curious..should only rapists have that done? what about guys who grabs/gropes a girl, sexually assaults her? does he deserve a penectomy too? and what about juvenlie offenders? I know of a guy that raped a girl when he was 16...eventually he became a totally new person...converted to Christianity etc...and has a wife and kids now...of course its still terrible what he did.

  • there is no equivalent in mythology to a guy whose penis attacks his sexual partners. "vagina dentata" is an actual mythological concept that dates way back to times when it was perfectly acceptable to be sexist against women. It wasn't just some idea that a bunch of feminists came up with recently to make fun of men.

It is a horror movie based on a real, documented fear from earlier cultures. Good luck trying to find the "feminists" that came up with the concept because they don't exist.

    • They didn't invent it...but they do champion it and I HAVE found these people...theres a campus feminsit group I know of that named their mag "Vagina Dentata"...they also sell t-shirts that have pic of a Vagina dentata that reads "this time you bleed"...They didn't invent it but do utilize it..so the orgins are irrelevent.

    • Actually there is; in Japanese mythology there was an iron phallus which went up against a sharp-toothed demon that hid inside the vagina of a young girl and castrated two young men on their wedding nights (vagina dentata). As a result, the young girl sought help with a blacksmith, who fashioned an iron phallus to break the demon's teeth, leading to the enshrinement of the item. It's venerated today as Kanamara Matsuri in Kawasaki, Japan as an annual Shinto fertillity ritual.

    • the man speaks the truth :)

  • Don't you get it women being weaker than men feel annoyed so any chance they can get to hurt a man they take.

But I doubt you could bit a penis off unless you tied him up or had a jaw like an alligator.

Now hear is where there is some light. Not all women are cruel and hypocritical. Mainly Caucasian woman are like this. In my experience Asian women tend to have some form of respect for men so that's what I went with and I never looked back. They also look better.

  • Dude, you've asked so many questions about this movie and feminism it isn't even funny.I only know about Teeth because of you.Could you get over it?Damn

    • Well if women can get over their double standards and man-hating then I'll drop it.

    • Who hates men?If you have a problem with feminists take it out on them, not girlsaskguys,it's a little immature and obnoxious. You aren't gaining anything by being a little bitch about things.

    • Theres feminists on here...and its not just girls that identify themselves as "feminist"...its any girl who praises mutilation of guys.

  • Here's the thing, my boyfriend once told me it is impossible for a girl to take advantage of a guy...True statement? I think so. lol.

    • what are you saying?

    • but why not? female can get over 5 orgasms per one act while guy - only 1:)

    • I'm just saying that guys like doing it, sometimes more than girls..and for the most part guys are into having sex if the girl wants to, so it's hard to force a guy to do it. lol

  • ... Its different, that would be stupid because the point of teeth is that women's genitals are considered to be dark and scary places for some men, because not much is taught to kids about vagina's in sex ed, since women's genitals are more complicated. And practically everyone knows everything there is to know about the penis and its anatomy. And If you didn't pay attention all of the guys in that movie were douche bags. Cutting an innocent guys d*** of would be completely different. Aside from that men do a lot more things to repress women, read a history book.

    • Ok..let me get this straight...to make vaginas less mysterious (which btw..i have no clu why girls are so bent outta shape aobut why we don't talk about vaginas more...seriously?) they make a movie about how they can castrate you? yea...ok. Ok, btw...does being a "douchebag" mean you deserve a penecotmy? 2 of the guys that she mutilated were not rapists...are you saying they deserved it? Btw...is it not kind sexist EVERY male in the movie is evil?

    • I mean, feminists don't even like it when all women in a srtory are housewives..how would they feel about a movie where all women are villains? O..so past repression makes it okay to glorfiy mutilation of men? The girl in the plot I presented was a villian..why don't you enjoy the justice that a male would take on a female? Yet you enjoy the opposite? I'm sorry but this is absolutley hypocritical and I think you kno that.

    • get over it, there are people who will always think differently than you. And I never said rapists I said douche bags who harassed the girl and no the only good guys in that film were her dad and friend, did you pay attention to that movie thoroughly. Dawn actually struggles in the movie and she is actually scared of the teeth at the beginning. I never said that penoctomy was right. And you don't know anything about female oppresion and its worse than a stupid little film.

  • omg that movie was insane and just plain funny :] but I think that would be scary I wouldn't even get close if I've would of seen that ohh boy that just scares me thinkin about it

    • so you think the movie with a girl getting mutilated like the one I mentioned would be equally funny?

    • yep for sure

    • well at least your consistent...

  • That is NOT how it happens in Teeth...crazy movie and that girl got raped by EVERYONE including her doctor. The whole ".that same girl decided she regret the decision and decides to accuse Ryan of rape" is not accurate to the plot line. And REALLY, Teeth was a cool movie but it has nothing to do with reality.

    • the point is that a girl wronged this guy and he take revenge by cutting up her vagina...btw one guy didn't rape..he just made a bet on getting her in bed...but I guess you think its jsutified to cut guys penises off for that...heck you feminsts probably would do it for fun if ud get away with it.

    • who says I haven't already? Believe what you want to believe, it was a movie no one is using it as a feminist rally cry.

    • U should check out the RAVE reviews it got on feminist blogs...even if women wouldn't actually do it (and they do) praising it is wrong..would you want to live with men who fantasized about raping you all the time? even if they never planned on it? or made movies about hurting women and opraised it for portraying "male empowerment".

    • Show All
  • i that that was freaky, I wasn't into it

    • well at least you and some girls didn't get a kick out of male mutilation.

  • That isn't offensive. The reason there are feminists is because there were times that woman weren't able to do as much as men. People still have those beliefs because some guys to consider it to work that way. Males don'y nessairly need the empowerment

    • so women will get empowered by biting off penises...great...

    • actually men need a great deal of empowerment, only in areas other than the ones women needed them in.

  • teeth is about female empowerment? I thought it was a joke movie!

Well I'd say it would be all the same to me, I mean, come on, he's a teenager, she's a teenager! Same thing!

    • their age makes it a joke

  • As in the girls are raping the guy? Because that's what happens in Teeth, she bites (for most of it non-purposefully) when the sex isn't consensual. She only starts 'using' it towards the end.

So, if the guy was going around getting sexually abused by a load of girls which he then 'spiked', I'd laugh because they deserved it, and it's a just a comedy, not a commentary on real life.

    • wrong...one guy doesn't rape her at all and she still does it...but even then...if there was a movie were every girl was a villain (in some wya or another) and I mean ALL of the (every guy in teeth was a creep) and he sought revenge by mutilating her genitals...the movie would be considered anti-woman.

    • I'm a feminist and I'd have no problem with it :/ The women would be seen as villains, so like all films it would be anti-villain. I didn't say rape, I said non-consensual. The moment she found out it was a bet, it was no longer consensual, and she couldn't help what she did... she was just as horrified by it as the guys. When my boyfriend and I watched it, he was laughing, and I was just grossed out. It's just a stupid film.

    • No..ur wrong...she consented to it...the fact that it was a bet is irelevent...now if she was disgusted by discvering the bet..she can climb off the guy...no need to be violent. no justification either. Well unfortunately no one ever has or probably never will make a woman-villain genital mutilation movie. Its gotten to the point where I don't mind hearing about women being victims because I have no sympathy for them..u don't respect me..i don't respect u.

  • I have never seen that movie

    • u can look it up on wikipedia ans read the plot..if you haven't already gotten what its about...

  • Just saying the movie Teeth is a turn on movie for me...Don't know why. But other than that, I don't like this movie simply because who would want to watch a penis get basically bitten off?

    • turn on movie? like are you into mutilating guys? (atleast the idea of it, I mean)

    • No I do not. Didn't you read my comment afterward? ^^ "who would want to watch a penis get basically bitten off?"

    • well like...how does the movie turn you on then?
