What are "bases"? Like first second and third what do they mean?

One of my guyfriend said he goes to second base on the first day he dates someone. What are bases and what does each base mean?

Don't mind if I giggle a bit, but this is a really cute question :)

When guys refer to bases, they mean the progress they make physically with a girl.

1st base is usually kissing or making out.

2nd base is copping a feel. Purposely and with permission feeling the girl's... more intimate parts

3rd base is the lighter forms of sex, such as fingering a girl or giving a guy a handjob, giving and / or receiving oral sex, etc

4th base is having sexual intercourse

And as a joke, most guys declare 5th base as having anal intercourse with the female
