Why are men so afraid of impregnating women?

In my opinion, women should be the ones more afraid as it is their responsibility and bodies. I've met some guys who are incredibly afraid of getting a girl knocked up that they don't even have sex. Yes, I understand if you're young, etc. but I feel like guys are more afraid then girls and it's not fair. Thoughts on this topic?

Really enjoyed everyone's comments. Thank you, I definitely have a better picture of a guys opinion now and not that these guys I dated were just babies! Keep 'em coming!

So is it mostly the lack of decision making/control and child support/responsibility/provider? I would guess it's mostly because of feeling stuck with that girl but I guess the other things are more important to you guys?

  • Well first of all, I'm speaking as a 23 years old guy who still don't have much because I'm still in college. Though, I would love to have a good car BMW Mercedes what ever, I would love to by my self a house and travel a world while I'm in my 20's and then when I will be 30-33 time to start to build a family. Now Imagen if I will have a child right now, all my freedom and all my dreams will be gone down the toilet pipe literally. I have to drop out from college and start looking for ANY job of course without education that means a low-paying job ( miserable job for at list 10 years while my daughter or son will be old enough so I can go back to college 10 years latter and get my self my miserable degree to provide a better life for my kids. Kids are the most wonderful thing in the world, I KNOW THAT and I'm prepared to do anything and everything to make sure that they will stay happy and will have a lovely home. However why should I risk of getting a girl pregnant knowing exactly what lies ahead of me if she will get pregnant Now? if a guy who is 18-25 has no education no at list middle paying job I see no point to have a child because you won't give him much. No Disney land, no friends staying overs because you have no house or if you do you have a sh*tty one that a kid will be embarrassed to bring his or her friends to it. You have to think about the future of yours and your children.

    • I completely agree with your opinion and feel the same way about the stages of raising a family. It's nice to hear how much a guy could care about providing nice things for his future kids :)

  • I understand the feelings of both parties. Men are afraid of pregnancy because our present legal system will make them financially liable for the result of the pregnancy. I personally feel this is wrong. If the girl gets pregnant, the male obligation should not exceed half the cost of an abortion. Or the female should be required to seek written permission from the guy before she can have an abortion. You see I just don't find it equitable that the female is allowed to make a unilateral decision that the male becomes financially responsible for.

    • I think I might have to agree with you here. If the girl decides to keep the baby then she should take on more of the financial responsibility.

  • The guys don't want to get trapped in the relationship and don't want to pay child support. Honestly, I think these boys are just that: boys. They're not that into the girl and they're not ready to grow up and take responsibility for their actions.

    • So using birth control is irresponsible? How does that work?

    • I didn't argue against birth control. I'm talking about an accidental birth.

    • *accidental pregnancy

  • Men are generally responsible for the financial support of their children. It can severely limit your progression in life, hence our fear.

  • A permanent and stupid mistake that could have been cheaply and easily avoided with a bit rubber? Cause enough for panic, I think.

  • Its because now a days (and correctly) a one night dalliance can mean 18 years of child support and DNA testing can pick you out of a haystack of guys that may have slept with your sweetie in the same time period. Before DNA, there was reasonable doubt deniability if you could prove the girl slept around that got us off free. Now there isn't. All of which is good and just, don't you think?

  • because if it happens we are powerless, it is her body so she gets to decide to abort or adopt or not. If I don't want the kid but she does, then I'm pretty much f***ed. but if I want it and she doesnt, then its abortion time

  • Child support is a bitch, that's why. Also, child support laws are not the slightest bit friendly towards men.

  • Maybe because we have no power what so ever. Working our ass' off to pay child support for 18 years? Being scared shows responsibility.

  • Protecting, securing, providing for and raising a child might make the list lol.

  • The fuck kind of question is this?

  • when a woman want to get pregnant by a man... lets say the men have so little power over the matter.
it is just ridiculous the power women have on this issue.
So while driven to want and have sex, probably much more than women, its the woman who really
decides if she want a child in the picture. ten condoms cannot help a man with a woman who wants
to get pregnant. While she can prevent herself any time if she want to.
How it is men get penalized for pregnancies is the great historical injustice.

  • Because in our society single moms are glorified, whereas single dads can pay 2/3 their paycheck to child support, and are still generally thought of as deadbeats.
