Do you think women deserve jail time for false rape allegations?

This woman got a year in jail for it..

link

I say ONLY a year! She should get at least half of what the accused should have got...if not the entire sentence. She even collected 2,000 from a rape=help center...what a scumbag.

Call me sexist if you want...If believing in justice makes me sexist then I'll own up to that label in a hearbeat.

  • Yes, I do think women deserve jail time for false rape allegations, especially due to the stigma that it puts on the man falsely accused, as well as court costs, jail time they may have unjustly served, etc. And of course, the fact that false allegations hurt real victims of rape---when you have women who are falsely accusing men of rape, it makes people question whether real victims of rape are telling the truth.

In the video you posted where there was video proof that she had not been raped, or in the case of Biurny Peguero, who admitted that she had lied, I definitely think these women should do jail time.

My concern, however, (and excuse my ignorance on the matter) would be how they might deal with cases where they could not prove that rape did or did not happen. Like, if a woman was raped, but there wasn't enough evidence to prove that she had been raped, could she face charges for lying (even though she was telling the truth)?

    • Yea, I agree that would be a concern...I would say that you would need pretty good evidence...liek eyewitnesses or video or a confession...but the thing is...to get out of it...many false accusers during questioning realize that they can't push the case forward..so they make a deal to recant in exchange for no charges...But if I was falsey accused I would just be stoked I didn't go to jail..I would be angry and want revenge though...but Id take getting out of it and just walk away.

  • Slander, purgery, perverting the course of justice.. They are punished, and rightly so. Women who make false rape allegations make a mockery of women who are ACTUALLY victims. In one case, I read a woman was jailed for 18 months - deserving.

However, often no damages are ever awarded, civil claims have never succeeded regardless of evidence that it was in fact a false allegation. More than that there is no support. For anyone who has been a victim of this crime the concquences are quite simply the same as if you have been found guilty. The only difference is that you know and have always known that you didn't and couldn't do it. This is probably why some take their own lives but then most just see that as a concequence of guilt.

I think this is a particular issue amongst young and married women.

    • why young and married women?

    • Married women - they have affairs and to avoid issues with their husbands they say they were raped. There was a few cases of that this year in Aus. Young girls - say they were "raped" when they get pregnant so that they aren't viewed as a 'slut'/religious/cultural reasons, etc. Not sure how it is where you are, but a few cases of that around here.

    • yea..there was a fmaous case of some college lacrosse players at a prestigious college..(if you ahve lacrosse in aus?) they were wealthy white boys..she was a black strippet they hired for a party...the District attonrney knew she was leiing because of a number of inconsistencies but pursuedx charges and covered the details to make a name for himself...the protector of the poor black girl..bringing those priveleged white boys to justice...but eventually the truth came out.

  • Yes and no. Yes she absolutely, undeniably deserves to be punished. However, if she is less likely to come clean after a false accusation and still lets the poor guy suffer because she is afraid of jail time then it doesn't do anyone justice. Very sad state, I agree.

My friend and I had this conversation recently and we hate women who do this. This doesn't just hurt men but it also hurts real victims of rape as they will not be taken as seriously.

No I don't think you are sexist at all for this view.

    • ugh..yea that's a good point...It makes me so angry these B*&*#s get away with this stuff...I know it sounds awful but maybe it'd be good if they actually did get raped and no one believed them after they made a false accusation..theyd get a taste of what they do to the legal system.

  • I disagree with you on this one...She's mentally ill and we don't lock up mentally ill people. This justice system isn't always fair and I think that prosecutor needs to be removed without prejutice if he went forward with this case. I would look at her past and never went forward with this case in the slightest.

  • I didn't watch the story but I assume she was charged with filing a false police report, lying under oath or something similar? Different crimes carry different punishments. If you don't like the current laws I suggest you start petitioning your local congressman to get them changed.

    • Alot of mens rights orgs do that...but I guess you responded that way because I bet your happy with them as is...rite?

    • I don't ever like to see innocent people accused and/or prosecuted for a crime. However, I suppose one has to look at the big picture. Would increasing punishment for women cause REAL rape victims to become less likely to come forward because they would be scared of being called liars?

    • I've had it happen to me, personally.. So if that law did come through, I could bein prison right now with no reason to be there.

  • Jail? I'd rape them for real.

  • YES! Sick women use rape to thier advantage, it's thier trump card. Whilst lying about thier ordeals they have no respect for women who have suffered at the hands of a pervert

  • a year seems pretty lenient considering she committed two crimes here.

  • Yes they deserve to go to jail and get a taste of the real thing

  • yea, they do.

  • Yes, and I agree only a year is a joke. Yet again our court system handing out lesser punishments to someone because they were born a female.

  • Jail? Hah!

I'd rather see them being tortured to death like inquisition tortured it's victims.
