If a girl tells you she is a prude does it mean she is completely against sex?

So there is this girl I like, and we started seeing each other about 2 days again. This is the first time we were out alone just the 2 of us, and it was not really a date. But we know we like each other. So when we were hanging out she told me that she is prude. She is a strong catholic girl, who is quite religious. Could this mean she is completely against sex? She knows that I have no problem with sex before marriage. So was it her way of saying she is opposed to sex? And if a girl usually say "she is a prude" could it mean outright against sex?We were also talking about our prom stories, and I mentioned about my ex-girlfriend who goes to a different college now, and she immediately said the girls from there are easy.

I just realized this goes under the sexuality section. But unfortunately can't change it.

Well about a months ago when she was drunk, she came on to me and said "your a frat boy why are you not trying seducing me?" and If remember correctly asked me to seduce her. But she was just drunk probably was joking because I was with someone else

  • It's all relative.

Psychologically, if someone says something like "I'm a prude", it probably means they think they're too prudish, which may actually mean they're trying to be (or at least open to being) less prudish.

In contrast, a real "prude" would probably never admit such a thing, because they don't see anything wrong with themselves. It's the rest of the world that's crazy, not them. Most prudes I've met would never call themselves prudes, even when everyone else sees them that way.

But of course, another thing to keep in consideration is that girls usually tell you what they want you to think about them, which often tends to be the opposite of the truth.

A girl who sleeps with every guy she meets may call herself a "prude" because she doesn't want you to think that about her (she probably doesn't want to think that about herself). On the other hand, girls who portray themselves as being very open with guys may be far from easy.

Obviously though, if she really is as religious as you say, then she is a hypocrite if she has sex with you. And if she's a hypocrite, that says something about her character...although I'm guessing that may not matter to you.

  • I would say that sex, and probably even making out, are likely to be off the table for the foreseeable future.

    • Well about a months ago when she was drunk, she came on to me and said "your a frat boy why are you not trying seducing me?" and If remember correctly asked me to seduce her. But she was just drunk probably was joking because I was with someone else. But the same time that incident happened she lend in to me, but I did not kiss her.

    • You have to be careful. Remember, the law is that if she is drunk or otherwise impaired, she cannot legally consent, so if something were to happen and she decided to press the issue once sober, it could go very bad for you. You were smart not to make a move.

    • wow in that case this girl sounds like trouble. Would you suggest I stay away from her?

  • Well given her religious background I would just assume that she might be planning to hold out for marriage or at the very least she intends to take things slowly and their maybe be sexual practices frowned on by her belief system. As someone said though she likely still has sexual desires but her family, her faith and such may be repressing her or causing her to feel guilty or ashamed of her sexuality. She might not really even feel that comfortable with sex especially if she's virgin. I know I was nervous about even kissing for a while. She may know very little about sex. Could also be she's repressed herself so much she doesn't even realize her own natural desires, I know some people who will focus really hard on school or work or anything to keep from thinking too much about sex and relationships because they feel like a relationship would just complicate their whole life and prevent them from achieving their career goals or what have you. She probably did feel threatened when you talked about your last girlfriend and she may be nervous that you might not be willing to wait until she's ready and be sort of testing you.

  • I'm kinda late but no it doesn't mean she's completely against sex. It might mean she's just unexperienced and the comment about your ex was her feeling threatened. I don't know a girl that has ever called herself a prude. Usually it's something a guy called her. I'd probably wait a little bit longer and then ask her about it.

    • k. Thanx for your reply. I was not sure if she was completely against sex or she was just not interested in me.

  • yes

no1 would really just say that, unless they really meant it or were completely joking and bursted out laughing after saying it because it was the biggest lie ever

  • if a girl flat out admits to you that she's a prude and has no hard feelings about saying that about herself, then I wouldn't want to date her. that sounds like a girl that's too hard to keep happy. too many rules. but hey that's all up to you.

  • it depends on the context of when she said it.

being a so called 'catholic' means nothing. religion is a label. getting to know a person is key. peace.

  • it means mate you have to up your game! believe me its easy :)

  • It sounds like she is mostly against it. It could mean that she could be into it but she will be just really hard to get.

  • it means she's a boring woman

  • She is letting you know where you stand and setting the ground rules. It's safe to say that she won't be jumping into bed with you straight away but it doesn't mean she is against sex

  • well from my experience, that's not something a girl woould come out and just say, It's basically like saying "I'm boring" or "I'm a slut" it's something you don't flat out describe your self as. Soooo I think she's pulling your leg

  • she's a boring woman ,
