Girls- what is the point of a g string? Why don't you just wear nothing?

Just curious, because really its only a string, so what's the point. I can see a thong because there is more there, but what's the benefit of a g string? and why do some have the small triangle and other just a string? Is there a difference?

Um both g strings and thongs have a small piece of fabric, and it's there for hygiene purposes mostly, and comfort [yeah, I know right].It's actually more comfortable to have a inch of cotton there than have your jeans rubbing against your lady parts when you walk.

I believe most girls wear them to feel sexy, so that's why they prefer it over regular undies.

i confused, I thought a thong had the triangle thing and the G-string had the string and no triangle. to me they look the same at the front and different in the back.
