Girls...would you laugh at testicular cancer because you can't empathize?

So a kid I knew from high school has testicular cancer, he's my age...only 20, he has lost one testicle so far..I'm not sure of his condition now...and me and 5 friends were talking about it when we hung out this weekend...the 2 girls of the group laughed..zero of the guys did...including me...what gives? If guys laughed at breast cancer wed probably all get a hard kick to the groin from those two..and no cancer is funny...I would never ever ever laugh at a girl who got breast/ovary cancer..just Because I can't get cancer in those areas doesn't mean I think its funny..geeezzz...

  • Wow. Those girls are awful. Cancer of ay kind is horrendous. My mom went through a 2 year battle with breast cancer and won thankfully, but it took her to the lowest places I've ever seen her go. She had both breasts removed in addition to chemo. She felt her femininity come into question and felt insecure because of how her body changed. It was heartbreaking to see how she hated seeing herself. Same thing for a guy with testicular cancer - his manhood becomes an issue because of popular social perceptions. I've read a lot on this topic actually and men without testicles still have a sex drive and function "normally" - they just can't get a women pregnant, which actually sounds like an advantage to me.

I'm going to just guess that those 2 are incredibly immature and giggled at the mention of testicles. When you've seen firsthand what cancer can do to someone you love...you can't ever trivialize it that way. I just hope those 2 never have to experience watching a loved one go through a cancer battle and learn what I'm saying the hard way.

  • It's cause women are stupid and have no concept of reality. Especially in groups, one will start giggling and then others will join in without having any clue what's supposed to be funny.

  • Hell no, that's horrible. Maybe the girls felt awkward about the subject or were just being rude. Most sensible women wouldn't even so much as smiled about that.

    • well I mean they joked about it too...so like I'm just assuming they couldn't empathize..like they think its funny because they can't get it...etc..

    • I don't know, I think they might have laughed because he's missing a ball, rather than the fact he has cancer. It's still rude and obnoxious either way, because like you said, guys don't laugh about breast or ovarian cancer.

    • well I mean isn't loosing a ball not funny too? infact that's worse..part of your body that makes you a man is gone!

  • well all I can says is those girls are clearly terrible people.i don't understand how anybody could not sympathize with someone elses misfortune like that :(

  • no, I wouldn't laugh about any kind of cancer. clearly those two girls are either socially retarded or extremely nervous.

  • Cancer is never funny.

  • No I would never laugh at that. Cancer isn't funny at all. Someone should have slapped those girls.

  • Hell no. That is unbelievably cruel. Proof that girls don't always mature faster then boys.

    • lol could be true...but I've seen things that convince me girls are a little more mature lol

  • Possibly because they thought of it merely as "ball cancer" and not as "dreadful deadly disease of pain and death". Empathizing with its pain was not their first reaction. Maybe it would have been the second.

  • That was rude of them. Poor guy... is he gonna get a ball implant?

    • I don't know...in all honesty we don't know the guy too well...we all hugn out with him at some point but after graduation we aren't clsoe to him..it just kinda came up in covnersation...talking about where everyone is at...i don't even know if he's gonna beat it or what...i kno he lost one...loosing one is actually okay..u can still have kids..get erections etc.. with one..i pray he doesn't loose the othet thatd be horrific.

    • :( I hope he beats it.

    • thanks..me too :)

  • No, I would not laugh at testicular cancer. They were probably just immature.

  • say that to Lance Armstrong and you'd get a bike frame wrapped around your face.

but then again some girls giggle at absolutely anything.
