  • Try to shave in the bath, or if not, let hot water run over the hair/area for a few minutes so that the pores open up and such. Next use conditioner and massage it into the hair for a while, to soften it up, make it easier to shave. Finally when you do shave make sure you shave your pubic area first, then your legs/pits. Also, only use the razor 4 or 5 times at most. Use light pressure and shave against the hair. When you're done if you see the bumps coming up again use cool aloe on the irritated areas. If aloe irritates your skin use some scentless lotion that won't.

The same goes for your legs.

Too much pressure is always what does it in for me. Remember you don't need to push that hard, especially with a new razor. If you use a razor too long you need to push harder so that's what you get used to. But with dull razors you're ripping the hairs, not cutting, so make sure to swap them out ever four- five shaves.

Also always use a razor with at least three blades to reduce the pull and tug on the hair.

  • I wax now, but when I shaved, I had the same problem. But I used conditioner, and made sure my razor wasn't dull, and that fixed it. And try shaving in different directions, and don't go over the same area too many times. I also read that if you rinse it with cold water right after you finish, that will prevent them. But I don't know if that's true, or not.

  • I have a trick that always work for me. I put the razor under hot water, use babyoil as soap and then after I have dried of I use a deo without alcohol on the shaved area. I know it sounds weird to iuse deo there but it prevents the skin from getting irritated and the cuts heals faster.

  • When I first started shaving, the razor bumps and the itching would just kill me.

Now my skin is so used to it that it no longer itches, and I rarely get any razor bumps.

Apart from this (the time-based solution), there are toher ways you can "reduce" (not otally eliminate) razor bumps:

Try using a good lubricator that was designed for the purpose of shaving. It REALLY helps, because a razor bump is esentially a skin irritation due to the sharp razor.

Another thing you can try is to shave after a long and hot shower, because both your skin and your pubic hair will soften up due to the humidity and warmth, which may lead to less razor bumps.

Finally, you can try other alternatives, like trimming the hair down instead of a complete shave, or waxing it off if you can handle the pain.

  • People can help prevent razor bumps by:

    * using warm water to soften the skin and hairs before shaving; shaving right after a shower.

    * applying shaving cream, foam, or soap in the opposite direction of hair growth (usually upward), moisturizing your skin as well as hair.

    * shaving in the direction of hair growth (usually downward).

    * not stretching your skin taut.

    * rinsing your razor thoroughly after each use and replacing your blades every week or more often if necessary.

  • Not a turn off, tryshaving in different patterns, like going across instead of straight against the grain

also do it bit by bit starting from the top

  • You don't have to be shaved down there to be clean. Stop feeding into the media crazed shaving frenzy. Nobody shaved until all this BS with sluts like paris hilton, britney spears, lindsey lohan, and all them doing it. Its just a stupid fad. people have been fine for centuries with not shaving down there. As long as you clean yourself as you normally(hopefully) anyways, there is nothing to be worried about. Oh yeah.. And no razorburn.

    • so you like hair vagina. she wasn't asking about that. she was asking how to shave and not get razor burn.
