If you could pick whether you would... Marry a virgin or nonvirgin, which would you choose? Most don't care which they get, but if you had to decide, which would you choose?

Well, I can't speak for most guys but I must say for me, it is respectable to want someone that is a virgin. I think it says something about you as a person. The first thing it says is that you have self worth. It shows that you won't just give your virginity away to just any man. I myself am a Hindu and I believe it is best to wait until you get married to have sex. Others don't want to live that way, but I believe it is right. Anyway, I think waiting for the right moment and right person is best. Secondly, I think that its great because it shows others that you have not been around with a lot of guys. I'm sure you know the horrors of std's and other issues with multiple sex partners. There are more issues that come with having sex with multiple partners than there are with waiting until you are married and with the right person. The choice is up to you, but I know there is a better way. If you have self respect, and any guy that isn't willing to wait or see that in you, then he doesn't deserve you.

I would've preferred a virgin. My husband and I have gotten into a debate about this before and both of us see each others' side of view. In my opinion if both persons in the couple are virgins when they get married then the sexual bond will be more emotional and stronger. You also won't get into fights of "Well do you still think about him/her when WE have sex?" or "Was the sex with him/her better than sex with me?" So for mental health I think it would be ideal to marry a virgin. My husband on the other hand argues that if you marry as a virgin you have a greater chance on cheating because you only know what sex is like with one person. "What if sex is better with somebody else" or "I wonder what it would be like to have sex with him/her" He thinks that most people will start to think like that and then fall into the temptation of it.

Wow! I thought the guys would choose a nonvirgin mostly, but it's the opposite. Loving this question, it's eye opening...And of course I would prefer a virgin to marry, because we would both improve our love making together. I also think we wouldn't divorce as easily.

But I'm questioning whether I'll be able to find a virgin husband, because it seems guys have more of a hard time staying virgins. There are lots of temptations, and there are people that persuade guys to lose their virginity. I don't feel much pressure in that area of my life.

Sex is only part of the relationship and if you guys are truly in love and care about each other then sex will come naturally. However, if I was forced to choose at gunpoint, I would most probably choose a virgin, because "being her first" would make me feel extra special.

To explain my answer a little better: 1. Someone who wanted to wait until marriage would likely have very different views on sex than me. 2. I want to know that I'm sexually compatible with someone before marrying them. 3. I've been sexually active for 10 years. Marrying someone who is a virgin would mean being abstinent for a number of years, since I would never rush into marriage with someone. 4. This doesn't mean I wouldn't date a virgin, I would just want to become sexually active with them

Just because someone isn't a virgin doesn't mean that they've slept with 1000-1500 people, nor does it mean that they have STDs. What matters to me is who someone is as a person and how they treat me, not the number of people they've slept with. I insist on safe sex, including getting tested for STDs. I use birth control. Even if I married a virgin and had children with him, there's no guarantee that we wouldn't end up divorced and I'd be a single mother.

On this site majority will say virgin, because most of them are one. Not judging anyone but I will say I don't care about virginity. As long as we are happy together. Someone virginity doesn't determine happiness in marriage.

It doesn't matter to me as long as they were responsible in the past. I hope they wouldn't mind if I wanted them to get tested before anything physical goes on. I'm paranoid about getting diseases and stuff so yeah I like to take all necessary precautions.
