When does a curvy woman become a fat woman?

I feel the need to say "no offence" first. But I've noticed an increasing number of overweight women claiming to be "curvy" hijacking the term. What about women who are actually curvy? What do they call themselves now? I am aware the word fat is accompanied by disapproving frowns and not considered a positive word. Okay so everyone...

  • I always get mad when magazines label obviously overweight girls as curvy in the sections where they tell you what clothes look best for your body type! I think the key difference between being curvy and being overweight is curvy girls are naturally big boned so they look bigger than a typical skinny girl but most of the bulk on them is muscle as compared to an overweight girl. An overweight girl's body will be mostly fat and untoned even if both the curvy and overweight girl have the same measurements. :)

  • i think that your "fat" photo is a VERY proud strong women, so I don't think that being overweight is her issue, I give her so much respect for posing like that cause I could never do that. She is embracing her shape.

  • to me curvy is a women with meat on her bones, she isn't stick thin. And fat is when you're crossing over the line to the point where you have health risks

  • Your fat/overweight image is disturbing. Why make a two piece for something that big. Just sayin'.

And the chick you have for your 'curvy' example is bordering fatness.

Either or, if you have a roll, you're fat, or in the process.

Curvy is something like..well, I couldn't find a good example that wasn't of a naked woman. LoL. =/

  • In my opinion if a girl a a health size 10 12 14 and in well proportioned shape that's one thing. But if they aren't making an effort to keep a healthy figure that's another. My wife isn't a skinny mini but what she has looks great :)

  • It's rather crude and in poor taste to speak of anyone being overweight, never mind the different gradations. It's not exactly a preferred lifestyle choice.

  • If she is bigger then me, then she is fat.

  • for me it's at the third chin

    • LMAO@your links. That "fat" woman is curvy and that "curvy" woman is average with big t*ts.

    • No the second girl's BMI should be 20 and it's over 26. She is overweight not curvy.

    • The BMI numbers are garbage. At my height BMI says I have to be skin and bones at the UPPER end of healthy. Besides, you asked our opinion.

  • Curvy women are still curvy, the plaint fat an overweight women aren't fooling anyone except themselves and whoever else doesn't happen to know the term.

  • when they offer you diet coke instead of normal coke

  • One word : "muffin top"

  • FAT IS FAT! Period! Drives me nuts women would rather have everyone agree with them that they are"curvy" or big boned! YOU ARE FAT. Put effort into thinning out as opposed to fishing for fake compliments, or be content with yourself! That is also ok.

  • 1st link is sexy as hell. She looks big but toned (notice the ab lines that are somewhat visible). That's curvy. 2nd link you can tell is chubby because of the jelly roles in her body. And that is when someone is seen as fat.

  • Both of those pics look 'curvy' to me. If you need a more precise measurement, may I suggest referring to someone by their BMI.

    • The second girl's bmi is over 26 when it should be 20. Sorry, just saying.

    • That's fine. That wouldn't stop me from dating her.
