What does "thick" mean??

Ok so I have been talking with this guy for a while and I'm 18 he's 22 and we were being a bit sexual-mostily just flirty, and he was like wow I have never like a girl like you before and I said what do you mean like me and he said "cute and thick"- what is that supposed to mean? cute girls can't be thick? and I don't see myself as thick at all I'm 5'7, 150lbs, DD, hourglass, and I wear a size 12 which is average for women? and I'm a pointe ballet dancer and very flexible. Thick doesn't sound like a very appealing or nice term, when I think of thick I'm thinking like way over weight, not active and not appealing, maybe that's jsut me. I would just like some other opinions.. why would he call me that? thanks!

  • Well there's 2 definitions.

The first one refers to your body. He's saying you're not thin nor fat. You have some meat on your bones which provides padding. It doesn't mean you're overweight at all. It's a great body shape on women in my personal opinion.

The second one refers to your intellience level. It means you're dumb, unintelligent, stupid, slow.

I don't know which one he was referring to but you said you don't see yourself as thick so I hope he didn't try and call you dumb. I doubt he was calling you dumb though (what kind of guy would say that to a girl they were interested in?!) so perhaps he was commenting on you body.

  • no, no, no. most of the people answering must be from england or something, in which case it does mean you're dumb. but in california at least, it means youre...well, thick. as in you are not thin. not exactly fat, but you have some meat on your bones. it is usually positively connoted actually, meaning that you are likely curvy. some guys like this, others dont, but if a guys calls you thick to your face he most likely means it as a compliment

    • im from NY, and thanks!

    • ya no prob...and id like to cite the guy below me as an example haha

    • Agreed.

  • Where I'm from, "thick" is a compliment, & yes, I'm from the US. "Thick" means you have some meat on your bones, but you're an hourglass shape so everything is in proportion. They wouldn't call you skinny nor fat/sloppy, so that's the term they use.

    • But regardless of what anyone thinks it means, he found you attractive.

    • thanks!

    • no problem :]

  • Thick is overweight but not in a bad way (the weight goes in the right places.)

He probably doesn't usually find thick girls appealing but in your case he does (which is why he said cute and thick.)

    • Where I am from thick is seen has a good thing, or a compliment.

  • Does he mean thick as in not intelligent? Still, not a great thing to say in whatever way he wanted to say it!

    • thick as in body type

  • thick means overweight, but not yet obese. More like chubby

    • lol @ downvoting my HONESTY

  • hes calling you fat.

    • whats up with all the thumbs down. its only the truth. its not like I mean it in a bad way. some dudes like fat girls, some like skinny. This site is for answers.. not some BS words you want to hear.

  • I'm not sure what he meant, but it's not a nice thing to say.

  • In western (US) younger (20s and younger), "thick" is generally used to describe an attractive body type on a woman. A woman who is "thick" has some extra weight on her but because of genetics (and yes this is entirely a result of genetics) the weight is distributed in a way that only makes her appear even sexier and more womanly than if she were thinner.

    • i do live in the US, and thank you that was very well put!

    • A girl who is "thick" typically, according to the BMI scale, right on the line between what classifies as overweight and what classifies as normal/healthy weight for her height, maybe just a hair over the line. But because the weight distributes itself in a way that augments her natural feminine body shape (meaning her hourglass gets more hourglassy as a result) then it's not at all unattractive. Many would say it's even more attractive than would be if the girl lost the weight.

    • Thick can also mean dumb, but we've already established we're talking about the body.

  • Well he obviously don't have a problem with it, as he said. That you don't like term is something else, if you don't want to be called that, let him know. ^^ Other more "nicer" term could be voluptuous or curvaceous.

  • thick is a compliment, means you have a very nice body

    • thanks ;)

  • Thick means yummy nothing better than a thick girl and thick doesn't mean fat ill take a thick girl any day ;) .

    • thanks! haha

    • Your welcome ;)

  • Where I'm from, that's implying you're blond: a bit dumb :-(

    • Im not blond, and I don't think I'm dumb,or ditsy

    • I'm confused then. Has he been web-caming you, so he can see your body or just still-shots? Either way, ask him what he meant. Maybe he's young and got words messed up. If he doesn't think you are blond, maybe it IS a compliment because he said "wow I have never like a girl like you before (sounds upbeat/likes he's happy) and I said what do you mean like me and he said "cute and thick". Ask him, especially if you like him and want to get to know him better :-)

  • Post a pic and I'll tell you if you're "thick" or not. 5'7, 150 does sound like you might be "thick" which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm 5'11 and 170 and in athletic shape but I'm a guy and guys are supposed to weigh more.

    • im pretty sure its still well into a healthy weight range. I'm the same height and only about 10lbs less than that, and I'm rightt in the healthy BMI range.
