Why do girls like abs so much?

they're not even the main muscles a guy needs for strength, just because a guy has abs doesn't mean he's strong or can protect you

Your core muscles actually do a lot as far as strength. It's the reason athletes focus so much on their core - not just for looking good. You'd be surprised how much power is from your core - when you walk - hell even when you throw a punch.

I think it just has a lot to do with a man looking " solid " over all.

I don't fret too much about abs - just a nice flat tummy - with those little " V " lines ^^

I absolutely melt if a guy has those nice broad shoulders, steely chest - and omg those arms, that look like he can just knock the f*** out of someone.

And the calves :P

Yea - so I think abs just made you appear more solid overall - like having a huge buff upper body and lower body with a mush of a belly in between lol - just looks incomplete.

They're not that much of physical preference -_- Just a guy who's in shape - if he happens to have those other things then cool. I work out and keep my body looking good - is it not fair of me to ask him to be relatively the same?

My butt is a little bigger - t*ts are about the same size - what is she a C cup? Yep - stomach is just as toned lol On a day when I'm dolled up just like her - sure I could be pretty attractive. As pretty as her? I say she's very beautiful - I'm decent looking - just enough to pull a guy with a nice body ^^

no it's just that for your idea of your body being in shape, it takes little to no effort, just don't be a lazy ass and don't eat like a pig

but for a guy to achieve a body like link it takes years to get there, and then strict diet and exercise to maintain it

I would understand though if you had an athletic build but almost all girls who think they're in shape are just skinnyfat

Dude who are you tellin? I compete in track at a college level - it takes a lot to build up muscle in general - especially core. Girls aren't looking for guys with super stud bodies - that's unrealistic. Men want the girls like in the picture you showed me -

but look at the majority of women around you - we dont' have perfect bodies, and likewise, guys don't either. You asked what part of the body girls like or why we like abs and not other parts - we told you. Anywhere in my response was it dictated that the guy I date have to be that way? The media creates idealized versions of men and women - the pics of the guys I showed you - and the pic of the girl you shoved at me to try and prove I have to look photo shopped with my t*ts hanging out to get a decent man. Really? No - really. -_- And as far as men talking about putting on muscle - testosterone in the male body amplifies muscle development much more than in women - so guess what? You have the advantage at building muscle anyway

Everyone knows models are photoshopped period lol - we know guy models stuff their junk to make it better - have makeup put on them - are shaven down even though having hair is sexier - It's all an illusion. If women all expected to a guy to be perfectly chizzled like that - all those skinny tall guys, short pudgy guys, guys with a bit of mushyness - woudnt be getting dated. and lets not talk about shallow - its universally known men are more concerned with looks than women -

Science even backs that up lol - The first pic is what I typically see around my campus - the average dudes I work out beside. They aren't rippling with abs - some of them have a 4 pac, no abs or look like that guy in the picture. The two picks are a scale of " in shape." What's your idea of " in shape?"

Just the fact that you care to take care of your body and health - is good enough. I'm never going to look like a model - and that's okay. You may never look like one - or you might if you keep working who knows? If you don't - that's okay. Don't kill yourself over not meeting unrealistic standards. Your good man.

It takes a ton of work to reach bodies like those - and genetics play a part too. I'm sure my fitness and body type would be harder to achieve if my mom didn't have the same curves and was biologically dispositioned to being over weight. Kudos to you for at least taking control of your circumstance as far as weight and trying to do something about it. You'll get there - don't give up just yet :)

It's kind of like boobs, butt, and legs on a woman. A lot of guys can't really put their finger on why they like them other than "they look good and/or are fun to play with" but they just do. Abs look good but they wouldn't be my favorite though, I prefer arms (especially with tattoos.) Actually a little bit of flab on a guys stomach is cute to me.

I don't really care for abs. They don't do it for me and I know they're so damn hard to get. A guy with abs probably means he'll have diet restrictions or whatever. I love pecs, traps and deltoids. The part where the three come together just looks very sexy to me.

Abs actually do a lot, they give you core strength helping balance, power shots in punches (the power of a punch doesn't come from the arm) and overall strength its a really strong muscle.

I never quite knew why abs are liked so much though, I guess its just easy to see but they still prefer arms sometimes more and back

I personally don't even like seeing abs. Too much muscle drives me a way. I prefer a pair of arms with lean muscle, not the gross, bulging muscle.

i actually don't care much about abs. I love strong arms, broad shoulders and a manly chest WAY more. Of course I don't like flabby stomaches either. As long as the guy's stomach is fit and he has good arms, shoulders and chest, I'm good to go haha

honestly, I don't like those really big buff guys. I don't know why. I guess I have always found it to be gross. I like guys who are skinny and have a little bit of muscle like on their arms or stomach. if they don't have muscle, than its still okay with me :)
