Threw up 6 hours after taking plan b, should she retake it?

My and my girlfriend had a condom mishap and we got Plan B last night. She took it about 45 minutes after the incident at 1:45AM. This morning she threw up about 8AM Has it been long enough for it to become effective or should we buy another pill?

  • Call the pharmacist and ask. even though it sounds like it might already be in effect, you should call and make sure! And I'm glad you're also worried about this :) It's not every day you see guys coming on here this concerned about their significant other! so props to you and your girl.

But yes, call the drug store pharmacist or have her call her doctor (pediatrician/physician/gynecologist).

  • No, she should be fine. Six hours should be more than enough time to have absorbed it.

From the Plan B website: "Although few people experience vomiting with plan B, if you vomit within one hour of taking plan B, you might not have absorbed the medication in the pills. Call your healthcare professional, as you might need another dose."

  • I would guess it has; but to be safe you should call the pharmacist. I know one of the symptoms of the Plan B is neasua, so it makes sense, but it's better to be safe than sorry!

  • According to their web site, you're supposed to take two pills within 72 hours of conception anyway, so if she only took one, then I doubt that taking another one at this point will because any harm to her. That said, check with a pro anyway, just to be safe. After all, I'm not a doctor; I just play it, from time to time.

    • They make a formulation where it's just one pill now. She probably took that.

  • do not take another pill. She is gonna be very sick go to the pharmacy to ask if she will be alright ro consult a doc

  • I work in a Pharmacy and one of the things they ask is "Do you have Gravol?" because it can make you throw up. It'd be best to talk to your pharmacist though, but be prepared to go out and get another box.

  • Read the instructions on the box.
