Was I molested as a kid at the doctor's office? have you been checked down there as a kid?

i remember when I was little like 9 or 10 years old I went to the pediatric clinic just for a regular checkup got my vaccines and stuff, and then the doctor told me to lay down while my parents waited outside, and checked 'down there' he was like looking inside and whatnot, and then he called in two other doctors to have a look as well and they all kept checking for like 10 minutes discussing things amongst themselves. it didn't seem creepy to me it seemed serious like something was wrong? they never told me anything or my parents so I don't know? I just never forgot that experience and don't get what the fuss was about? -is it normal to get checked down there by pediatric doctors when you're a kid? -why didn't they tell me or my parents anything? -i have an innie vagina you can't even notice the inner labia its only outer big lips. -i use pads for my time of the month, I can't insert a tampon I think my hymen is too thick (yes I'm a virgin) so is that why they were checking perhaps? my period blood flow is fine though I think there are some conditions where the hymen has a tiny hole in it to let blood flow, but it needs to be surgically cut before a tampon or penis can go inside it. do you think that's the case with me? -no other doctor told me anything about it, and I've never been to an ob gyn.

thanks everyone! you're right it was just a medical examination. my parents are not too bright or scientifically advanced so they didn't suggest it at all. I was never abused. they did spend 10-15 min in there pushing around and touching, I guess I'm just worried anatomy wise like what's wrong down there?! may be I should plan my first ob gyn visit.

  • It depends. I've had the pediatric doctor check my vagina, but I wasn't 9 or 10. I was more like 14 or 15. Despite that though, I'm not sure I would go so far as to say you were molested. It doesn't sound to me like you were, it just sounds like a medical examination. They have to check inside and feel around a bit to make sure everything is alright. Not sure why he would have brought in two other doctors, but it seems legitimate to me. The only thing that would arouse my suspicion is that you were so young and they supposedly didn't tell your parents anything about it.

  • that doesn't sound odd to me, my doctor has checked me before when I was a child. however there are laws in place that any minor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when alone with a doctor. I'm 18 and even when I go to my gyno there has to be a nurse present, never just me and my doctor, so I am confused as to why your parents were not with you to begin with

  • sweetie you werent molested. you were there for a reason. if he looked around and had other doctors look most likely he was looking at a case of sexual abuse on you and had to check that area or something down there that was wrong.

    • i think that's why I'm confused because I don't get what was 'wrong' down there how do doctors decide to screen a kid for sexual abuse?

    • im guessing they check and look at the area down there so make sure there is no tearing or possible injuries caused from the abuse/assult.

  • That's called a physical and you may not have known that your parents requested one. If they find any abnormalities they seek the opinion of other doctors before concluding anything of significance. You're here now, so it was probably nothing.

  • well... sounds like a medical examination if 3 doctors were involved... he was consulting them about something. you never know...

    Maybe your parents requested it, because usually they don't check kids down there for like regular checkups. Usually you don't start getting those type of exams until your teens or whenever you're sexually active
