I think the following:

1. As a man, I like to see women's bodies, especially the parts they tend to cover up normally. It is sexually exciting. Exception: She is really, really overweight, then it would be a turn-off. For most girls, yes, we like to see a crack, but there's more to the story. See below.

2. She might not be aware that the crack is showing. I won't necessarily judge her on that.

3. If I think she's showing her crack to get attention, I'll think that she's slutty or at the very least, an attention whore.

In summary, I can like seeing her little butt cheeks at the same time not respecting her if she's aware of it and doing it for the wrong reasons. If she is, then it tells me the best part about that girl is her butt, and little else.

It is a lot like cleavage, less can be more.  If it is clear that she wears pants she knows will reveal a lot of tush cleavage, there is no feeling of getting a sneak peek, ergo not such a great thrill.
