Strange question but: How are nipples supposed to look?

They were speaking about different nipple types on a doctors show I was recently watching... I know most people have round nipples, with a small ball of skin that sticks out further on the end. (not the best way to put it I know, but I hope people can understand what I'm getting at.) my only problem is, I don't actually have the end part..? my nipples are all flat. are nipples like bellybuttons? some people have 'innies', and some 'outies'? I realize this is a really strange question, but I'm honestly just curious, and hoping that I am not some freak of nature.. :s

"Innies", as you call them, do exist. You are not a freak of nature. This is more common than you might think. Your nipples are just as functional as those with "outies". Besides, keep in mind that there is no way that you could be missing a body part without a doctor noticing at some point. You were born with your nipples, you know. The doctors would have mentioned if there was something wrong with them!

The nipples may be inverted right now, but they should "pop" outwards when you're really cold, when you're aroused, and when you're breastfeeding. If you want to prove that I'm right, go grab an ice cube (or your hand) and find out for yourself.

If you are honestly that concerned, you can always go get a doctor to double-check, even if just for your peace of mind. It's annonymous, and it will put your mind at rest. But trust me, you are not a freak!

I'm not entirely sure that there is a specific way that a nipple is supposed to look. That's almost like saying that a vagina has to look a certain way or a clitoris has to be fully visible or fully hooded and nothing in between is "right."

i DO understand what you're getting at though and perhaps if you are very concerned about your lack of a "tip", then head on down to the doctor's and ask them if you are ok?

Nipples aren't supposed to look like anything in particular. Some are inverted, some stick out, others are flat, some are big, small or medium, pink, brown, beige or skin color.

Flat nipples are common, don't worry haha. I don't have them but I have an inverted nipple

The part that sticks out is the nipple; the nipple-colored area surrounding it is the areola.

Some girls have very prominent nipples that stick out a lot, and some have fairly flat nipples that barely poke out even when hard, and most are somewhere inbetween. And some girls have inverted nipples, where there is a nipple, but is kind of an "innie" bellybutton and doesn't pop out.

And not mentioned here are puffy nipples, which are "flat" nipples with "puffy" areolas that protrude a bit from the breast.

These are all common breast variations, and nothing to be concerned about. And you don't need to worry about guys finding you attractive; flat nipples are quite common and aren't going to slow a guy down.

I was wondering if you have inverted nipples. I am just curious because I may have your answer to fixing them without surgery if they make you self conscious.

since so, I have found out I do. ...I'm not that concerned about it...if I have to have any sort of 'mutation' I'm glad it's something I can keep hidden.

Inverted nipples are not a mutation. They are very common. I think that they are just as beautiful as the protruding nipples just part of the variety of life, nothing to be ashamed of. Don't worry you are not a freak.

Some can be 'inverted' where the nipple actually points inwards, but it's nothing to worry about as they aren't ridiculously uncommon.
