What do you think about incest?

i was doing research about incest online and it seems like a lot of people are okay with it. i.e telling stories, fantasies ect.. but I just can't even wrap my head around it. I think it's wrong but I'm not judging anyone who doesn't agree with me or anything. if I try to even begin think about it I feel like I want to throw up. people who are against it only seem to be against it because it isn't socially accepted or because you can have mentally handicapped children.. but my reason is because the idea just is simply repulsive. but anyway I don't want to judge or offend anyone, its just what I believe. what do you think about it ?

    Well, for me we need to firstly draw a very important distinction.

    1: Adult consensual incest

    2: Abusive sexual assault (incest with minors)

    Under no circumstances do I agree with the No. 2. That is, any incest on a minor is sexual assault and any victims of this I give my greatest sympathy to. I do, however, make a strong distinction between that and adult consensual incest.

    For me, No. one is a 'victimless' crime that whilst I personally wouldn't wish for it, I can't raise objections to it after consideration.

    1: Morally:

    I don't see anything morally wrong with it, as it does no harm to anyone. You could argue that it does harm emotionally to their families, but what of the emotional harm to the couple you choose to break up (and at the moment, jail).

    2: Birth defects:

    I have read different statistics concerning the rate of birth defects from incest, but regardless of the different statistics, it is known that incest increases birth defects.

    However, there are many things that can cause birth defects. Smoking, for instance, whilst pregnant can increase birth defects. Should we make a law against smoking whilst pregnant? How about drinking alcohol? Taking drugs? Being over a certain age? Having known hereditary diseases in your family? What about cancer?

    Hypothetically, I would decriminalize incest, and have 'genetic counselling' available to incest couples with an urge not to have children (have a donor/adopt instead). However, I don't think it should be legally enforced, because I think it creates double standards. This is the only argument that I consider a valid reason against incest, but I disagree with it.

    3: Religion:

    Regardless of my personal beliefs, I support true secularism. In that sense, I don't think religion should play a role in laws.

    Some people may not agree with my morals or reasoning. That's personal opinion, but I do feel sorry for incestuous couples that can find themselves in jail because of who they fell in love with.

    Once the topic is looked at under objective light, it becomes much harder to rule against it without creating double standards.

  • i experimented with both my sister and brother a few times when we were younger. we all learned a lot about the other sex, which was kinda the point, its not like we were a thing, just having fun.     • 2nd cousins are still blood no matter what. doesn't matter what they believe in. over time all theat incest will catch up to them and the result will be a child who can't reproduce and is special needs. hence charles II of spain

  • Love is love. If there's consent I can't really bring myself to hate people that are in these relationships. Although I would say they should avoid having children. And I they should keep their business in the privacy of their bedrooms. If it was in the open I fear that more people would end up thinking it's acceptable, including younger kids, .

    I am perfectly fine with role-play. And I assume part of the thrill with this role-play is the feeling of doing something that's taboo. Therefor it would also benefit these role-players to keep a low profile, the more accepted it becomes the less taboo it becomes after all.

  • personally, I would never knowingly have sex with a relative. it's not a religious thing, but something just doesn't feel right about it. but what other people do is up to them. if they are both consenting adults, who are we to judge them? they are not hurting anyone else, therefore society shouldn't dictate whether it is right or not. as for the children issue, I agree that incest couples should not be allowed to have children (biologically with each other, I'm not talking about sperm/egg donors or adoption) simply because the research exists now to prove that they are very likely to be handicapped. no child should be brought into the world to suffer.

    all of that said, I can't see the laws on incest being relaxed anytime soon.

  • Well, I have nothing against relatives having sex for fun, or for whatever reason, as long as they don't have a baby. In other words, a brother, sister, cousin, whoever exploring each others bodies, or having sex is fine, but not having babies. That is my opinion/thought. By the way, I love reading incest stories on a site called: Literotica. It has some amazing stories. All fiction.

  • Too all the people responding because the baby would be handicapped of some sort... There is a greater chance of a child being handicapped if the person is a smoker, a drinker, has a family history of cancer, mother over 40 years old... etc etc. and anyone that falls under these categories are not told that they shouldn't have a kid. Research has shown that incest between cousins (both completely healthy) have only a 2% greater chance of a birth defect than 2 perfectly healthy random individuals. In the immediate family (brother, sister, mom, dad) it goes up to about 5-7%. So, there is still greater than a 90% chance the baby won't be born with some birth defect. A mother over 40 is far, far more likely to have a child that has some sort of birth defect than an incest couple... but no one will ever say that she doesn't have the right to have a kid, and neither should people concerning about incest. I personally find it disgusting, but my own prejudice against it shouldn't get in the way of what two consenting adults can and cannot do. I also find it disgusting to see two guys or two girls making out. But just because I find it disgusting doesn't mean I should have the right to tell them that they can't be together or that they can't love each other.
