More to the point, are there reasons beyond money and their own gratification (not the clients) that the practice could or couldn't be considered acceptable?

Interesting. I haven't seen anything pertaining to the physical reasons. Eg: As the seminal pressure builds up, and hormonal triggers bring men to initiate acts of violence from frustraition. Lowering these levels and sharing human contact relieves these urges preventing crimes like rape.

Cuddle clubs can be a way of sharing intimate human contact with people who need it WITHOUT (we really, really need and italic font) being sexual. They are enforced with rules; and if participant get too frisky, they are kindly taken aside and given time to calm down, or asked to leave. If people can share intimacy, and know that it won't lead on to anything else, I believe this can be an alternative to excessive physical sexual contact, or cravings.

  • Hi there, I must say I am pretty troubled by how many people think this is OK. In life there are many physical and mental urges/feelings that we must all fight to stay in a humanistic society. Just because someone is getting on your nerves you can't just slap them, its called assault lol, just because you see a car that's not yours and you like it you can't just go get in the drivers seat and drive away, its called theft. So my point is that despite the urges of men a whole career should not be created and condoned just to ease an urge that puts other people (women) in harms way. I strongly believe that both men and women know what is right and what is wrong. Now the lines that we have blurred to make it acceptable because we want money is the real reason that it even exists. Its amazing to me what we have made acceptable for the likes of money. I have no doubt in my mind that all of you would gringe if your daughter came home and stated that this was her chosen profession but we have become desensitized because society views these women as far away from us. Pleas don't think that I have a holier than thou perspective as I had a p*rn addiction myself for years but it is the same concept and when I started to realize that the girls were starting to look more and more familiar and girls were in college doing this with pictures and film coming back to haunt them in their future is when it hit home that these girls have diappointed parents, family and friends and they are doing it all because I was helping to create the demand to pay them. There is now stated to be only 5 degrees of separation among people so 5 people away you may actually know someone in this lifestyle, they are real women, closer to you than you think, mentally defeated and feeling like they have no other way or anything else that they are good at on this earth. Its all fun and games and nonchalant until you realize it is one of your own. God Bless.

  • 1. What do women really think of protitution?

Women generally find it disgusting or unacceptable. Usually because they find it degrading and humanizing and think of prostitution as male customer-female product and that men would purchase sex tends to ruin most women's idealistic view of men.

This woman finds prostitution involving children (under 18 to me), addicts, and those forced to be there disgusting.

    2. What do you believe are reasons (for and against) for the social acceptance of prostitution? I'm supportive of prostitution as I think if it were more commonplace and legal that it would:

be a safer healthier environment for the women/men involved

hinder human trafficking ensuring that the prostitutes actually desire to be there

cause there to be far less men whinig/b*tching about how women don't want nice/good/decent guys

cause there to be far less men whining/b*tching about not having sex

    3. More to the point, are there reasons beyond money and their own gratification (not the clients) that the practice could or couldn't be considered acceptable? To me a reason that it could be considered acceptable is that there'd be far less men thinking women have to dole them out sex or a relationship because he wants it or because he's nice rather than because they want to have sex or be with him.

    • @Update That's a bit of a stretch to me since the levers can be lowered through masturbation as it's sexual release that lowers the pressure build up. As well as plenty of men who can easily get sex still rape as rape doesn't tend to be some last resort made out of desperation.

  • I don't think I would ever want to sell my own body.

However, some woman don't have another choice. And when it comes down to survival, well everyone has a right to fight for their own survival.

Prostitution goes way back. It has exist for such a long time. And I think in certain circumstances, it might even keep certain guys from raping woman, to satisfy their desires. I'm not sure. But in the middle ages for example that was part of the reason, prostitutes were allowed to travel with the troops, during war. Keep the soldiers from raping woman they came across on their journey.

  • I agree with it to an extent.

I mean, a lot of people agree with p*rn right? The only difference between a p*rn star and a prostiute is that one is being filmed and the other isnt.

I believe if a woman has hit hard times and feels she has no other option, then sometimes you have to resort to such (even if it degrades you and your self esteem.)

Personally, its something I wouldn't do. But it is understandable why one would choose this path

If you are doing it to support a drug, alcohol habit, make income for your pimp, etc. then I disagree with it.

    • But I think they may feel terrible after it , or they don't really like this work, they just allow to degrate themselfs, I think someone should help them, to find any other work, governmens ( or someone) should give more opportunities to work and earn money, so no women would be forced to be a prostitute.

    • I mean that is one view to look at prostitution. Some women love a lot of sex and don't mind having a lot of male partners. Ex. Open relationships, or polyamory relationships. There are people that do these acts that aren't getting paid for it. Some people enjoy this type of lifestyle. Not every prostuite is sad and depressed.

    • Yes. For some woman, it is just a terrible situation they got themselves into out of desperation. But for others it is truly a job of choice. Because it can pay a lot of money I suppose. And because they enjoy sex. But it is also naive to think that you can help everyone. It just isn't possible. There isn't enough money. The government simply can't help out everyone. It has to set its priorities. It's the sad truth.

  • My view is that prostitution is a business model. Rarely is there a physical benefit to it on a woman's side (other than possibly having an orgasm), its a way to obtain money and in places where it is illegal, a dangerous way to make money.

Is it an acceptable practice? Yes, if this is how one ACTUALLY chooses to make money, yes. However, more often than not prostitution is a last

  • It's legal in my country and I think that that's a good thing because it's regulated & safe. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with it. If sex is something you're willing to trade for money, just like other people are willing to trade goods/services for money, go for it. But there are a lot of women who are forced to do it and that's obviously totally wrong.

  • I think it should be legalised and regulated. That way serious health issues can be controlled.

I don't think there is something wrong with it, exactly. I think people should be able to do what they want with their bodies. If that includes selling it, it should be their choice. I would never do it, but I don't judge those who do.

Sometimes you're desperate, I guess. Want in one hand, sh*t in the other. See which one you get more of.

    • Ok, would you attitude change if you found out your partner was with a prostitute, before he met you? His reasons would be his own.

    • The issue with prostitution, as mentioned, is the risk of diseases and whatnot. I don't think prostitution is bad in itself, but I would also be turned off by a guy who solicited a prostitute. That might seem contradictory, but it's not. I think if people want to buy/sell sex - that should be their right. However, it doesn't mean everyone has to be comfortable with it or whatever, which I am not.

  • There are girls who actually like this line of work, generally not your run of the mill girls operating from the long arm of a pimp, but the girls such as the ones in Vegas and those girls don't just make money, they make big dollars.

In many homes everyday a form of prostitution is going on as women are trading favors for sex from a boyfriend or hubby

  • I think it should be legal, as someone already said, it would help combat the health issues that surround it.

I don't see anything wrong with it myself. I mean, if both parties are willing then why not? It's just a business transaction; it just happens to involve sex. To be fair, most things do now-a-days anyway, just without ACTUAL sex.

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. I have a different moral compass to everyone else, so why should what I deem morally questionable dictate what other people do with their lives?

It hurts no one, so it should be a matter of personal choice, not the governments choice.

    • +1!

  • Hi there, good question. I am sure that you can tell by my login name the obvious reasons I would say prostitution should not be accepted however I think that people don't think about potentially who these individuals are. This is someones daughter, little sister, friend and worse sometimes someone's mother. No one wants to think about that and the truth is that something had occured in these individuals to make them feel like that lifestyle is the best that they can do and instead of helping this only ends up making them feel worse about themselves. Its not a glamorous life, its a life filled with danger, always being on guard and expecting the unknown including death. Everyone thinks its fun and games until its someone they know. God Bless

    • i completely agree ;), this shouldn't be accepted

    • Any view is appreciated.

  • i'm indifferent to it. if people want to, they can.

  • I think prostututes do it for money.

I accept them, but I would rather clean the toilets than become a prostitute .

  • I tend to view it as a business transaction. The woman wants money, the man wants sex. As long as they are above legal age, I think it is their business.

  • It is what it is. Some girls enjoy sex so much that they CHOOSE to make it their job. Me, on the other hand, I wouldn't be interested in it. I think it would be a scary and too dangerous of a job.
