Does not wearing a bra cause sagging?

Is it a legitimate cause of sagging? I've heard conflicting things, mostly from women, saying sagging & loss of volume are caused mostly from pregnancy, cause the boobs swell up and if your breasts are small, they end up losing volume(which is why many get implants of the same size) and for big breasts, they cause the actual sagging or big or small they cause them to just remain big. But my friend, she told me she's a B/C, she HATES bras and she's always asking if she'll end up sagging. I told her not necessarily, cause if anything will have an affect it'll be childbirth, cause small boobs get a deflated look. And she always tells my friend and I to go braless, but even at night I can't go without a bra & I'm a 34D/36C, my friend a 36C Does it actually cause sagging?

  • i've heard a few things that can cause breast to sag, one is genetics and the other is

over stretching the tendons that hold the breast muscles, that could come from never wearing a bra.

i think when you go to bed you should be fine not wearing a bra though, you aren't really applying gravity in anyway that would cause them to sag.

now if you were playing sports and they were bouncing all around and you didn't wear a bra I would think that would cause sagging.

I used to be like you I was worried about my boobs sagging so I never went without a bra but now I wear those tanktops/spaghetti strap shirts to bed that have the built in bra/support they are super comfy and still give you some support.

Either way I think gravity will get the best of all us girls in the end

  • Yes. Everybody is different & some women can go without bras every now & then & still be perky until childbirth.

But you should still wear them most of the time, especially if they're big (C's & up) because there IS a thing called gravity & it does horrible things to your boobs. -_-

    • Actually, overuse of bras can lead to atrophy of the ligaments of cooper - the breast’s natural “built-in-bra” - these ligaments job is to keep the shape and support the breasts. But when bras are overused, these ligaments atropy... causing sagging, and thereby MORE use of bras for support.

  • Yeah especially if theyre big. I'm a 38D and they would look saggy if I don't wear a bra.

But even size A boobs look saggy and separated without a bra. I don't know how some women not use bras.

  • I have seen a study all over the place that says just the opposite, but can't vouch for the veracity.

In any case, where whatever makes you comfortable. Why should you have to wear bras?

  • Yep, I believe it does cause sagging. It usually happens during puberty when your boobs are growing in, that's when it matters if you should wear a bra

  • wow you Ladys have some nice cups sizes. just had to say that ;)

  • idk, I always wear a bra and I am a 36 or 38 B...but yeah dey normally sag after childbirth

  • Either way, gravity wins. The bigger, the sooner.
One high school classmate was saggy in her sophomore year. And she wasn't fat.
