Do most women have penis envy?

I have been reading about Freud and he has a theory that women have penis envy-atleast subconsciously anyway? True? False? Maybe? Do explain...

You read in psychology in HS all about how Freud was this brilliant theorist and had these incredible ideas. Then you go to psychology in college and the first thing they say is, "Forget everything you learned about Freud. He was an idiot."

A little boy pulls out his member and says, "See this? You don't have one. This means I'm better than you and can do more things than you and am stronger than you and smarter and I can get a girl with this."

The little girl pulls down her pants and points, "See this? This means I can have as many of those," she points at his member, "as I want."

I think subconsciously, yes. But it's not based on anything perverse or socially symbolic. Rather, at a very young age, at some point, superficially girls see that they have something physically missing and boys have something extra. ... and like many childhood revelations, it sticks with you on some level.

I disagree with a lot of what Freud said after learning some alternative theories back when I took Psych 1 in college. But this viewpoint seemed to make sense to me.

Imo.. I definitely do have penis envy.. but not that I physically want that body part, but the recognition the power and status of being a man , the appreciation is different and Men have it easier in the workforce. To be able to obtain that kind of power is just so much more difficult for women.

Freud's theory was wrong. It's not women with the penis envy, it seems to be men.

I think maybe its a bit of both, There are SOO many times ie when um spending my $25 tip money on the morning after pill and yearly pap smears and sexual double standards and bleeding once a month for basically the f***ing rest of my life, that I wish I was a guy and have I guess "Penis Envy". But then there are so many other times when I love being a girl and I think males might sometimes think girls have it easier too, it really all depends on situation.

I think some women are envious that men have it so easy in some ways we don't it has nothing to do with the penis literally.  Just like guys might be envious that women can cry and be emotional and not be called a baby it doesn't mean you envy our vagina and want one it just means you wish you had that luxury.
