For most guys, their penis is much smaller when flaccid than when erect, and when wearing tighter underwear (briefs, boxer briefs, speedos, jock strap, etc.), everything is held in by the "pocket" that forms in the material, not too unlike a bra cup. If you are wearing boxers, your package can shift around more, and may "pick a side" rather than riding the seam of the boxers, but again, most guys when soft are only a couple of inches long, and it's connected to the body at the centerline, so it's not going to go too far.
Sure, the very few guys who have p*rn-sized penises may have a few more issues, but even still, when it's soft, it just finds a place to go. The real issue happens when it gets hard; that can sometimes be uncomfortable or even painful if your clothes are pinching/bending/restricting it as it is growing to full length. Guys often have to adjust things around when that happens.

well, if you're wearing briefs, or boxer briefs, it is kind of supported. If I'm wearing boxers, I do point it down one side or the other (which is it? I think it's usually to the right) Sitting down is not a problem. It's not like they're so long that they get wrapped around your thigh or anything. Now, as for do they just stay where you put it? No way. A guy's penis is constantly throughout the day becoming more or less stiff all the time. It never seems to be exactly the same size; it changes throughout the day, depending on the temperature, daydreaming about girls and sex, etc.
I personally am not a guy. And this is going to sound really weird, but when I was younger my family had a very small house and I had to share a bedroom with my brother. When he woke up in the morning to go to work I saw him change. Its quite odd, but it just kind of goes in the middle. If the boxers/briefs have a pocket, that is.
For most guys, it gets fairly small when they aren't aroused, so it sits in the middle. Penises always remind me of hedgehogs, haha.

An interesting I heard from a friend who was doing scientific research on this topic, said that usually guys who are right-handed will put it on the left side, and left-handed guys will put it on the right side.
Keep it right in the middle facing down for various reasons :) and it stays there
If the pants are loose I just throw 'em on. If they're tight it might require some adjustment to make things comfortable. Either way it doesn't move around a whole lot, usually.

I keep mine the way it hangs... but when I get hard, it's SUPER noticeable because it's pushing against my pants... I have to go somewhere private and shift him upwards.. there's still a cylindrical bump, but at least it's not as well seen...
You'll probably think this is a joke, but I assure you I'm 100% serious. If a guy goes to a high end tailor to have trousers tailored our a suit made, they will ask him how he "wears himself". What they are asking is if you normally let your penis hang to the left, right, or middle. They will then customize the pants to have extra room on that side. by the way... I wear myself to the left.
When I put my pants on I let it do it's thing. 9 times out of 10 it rides down the left side.
Obviously there is not enough "vertical" space to keep it in the middle..

I wear tighter underwear. I dislike boxers. I generally keep it right in the middle. Of course, if I cannot keep it in middle due to the pants, that means the pants are too tight and I don't wear them.
Wherever it goes, it just stays there. I wear boxers and fairly baggy jeans most of the time.
For guys that wear skinny jeans (ugh) I have no idea what they do. I assume they tuck it, since they clearly don't want to have it in the first place.

I don't even think about it. It's never a problem or feels 'in the way' regardless, it's not really something you actively think about. Generally you'll adjust it a bit if the pants are causing it to bend awkwardly but otherwise you're fine. I suppose it sorta stays in the middle and doesn't really move much from there? lol, I've honestly never thought about it.
He just usually hangs in the middle. If I wear small boxer-briefs / boxers or its hot outside then sometimes it usually just flops to my left leg (not sure why its always the left ha ha o.O ). I don't know I don't really pay much attention to it normally when its just there, unless he acts up .. pun intended hehe. :]
oh I should mention though that most underwear have a pocket or are designed properly so the penis just rests comfortably in the middle. Some cheap underwear however isn't and once you wash it the material shrinks and the seam doesn't give much space and makes it uncomfy.
