How to reduce smegma build up?

I noticed smegma build up around my labia and clitoris for the past couple of days and it's an obscene amount. It becomes itchy towards the middle of the day (around 1pm) and is very annoying. Is there any way that I can reduce how much is there? Or do I just have to clean my vagina multiple times a day?

  • I get that too >.<

What I do personally, is I just use a microfiber cloth to keep myself clean between the crevices and whatnot.

If it's your first time cleaning the smegma, you may need to use a soap or cleanser along with a towel or microfiber cloth. DON'T clean the actual vagina, but stick to cleaning the clitoral area, hood and the crevices of the labia.

When you finish that first time, feel around and see if there's a sticky or gooey consistently. If you need to, gently take your finger and with your fingernail, scrape very gently against the area and see if you pick anything up. If there's smegma, then you clean again with a towel until you get rid of it.

Also, after the first time don't use a cleanser and don't scrub too hard. All you'll do is irritate it which might me causing the itching.

Also, when you get out of the shower(everyday), make sure you actually pat yourself dry down below. Use your towel(the one you're drying yourself with) and pat your labia and clitoral area dry to prevent moisture from building up.

Um, make sure you wear cotton panties.

    • I'll try using some Eve's wash down there, but I honestly haven't had an issue with getting it clean. The issue is mainly with it coming back so soon! I've had the same problem on my scalp before. It's just sebum overproduction (I have extremely oily skin), but since I don't think that it's a good idea to use tea tree oil down there (that's what I use to regulate the sebum production on my scalp) I'm wondering if there's another cure

    • Hmmm, yeah, tea tree is a bit too harsh. I'm not too sure what to say...I have the same problem with my scalp, though I've found ways to manage it. Down there, I've found that patting it down keeps it from building up, for me at least

    • Okay, I'll make sure that it's 100% dry when I get out of the shower and see how that works out ^_^

  • sweet and scented soaps can cause this. Try to use a mild un-scented soap or take a warm bath with some Epsom salt. Works great! Don't try to wear tight clothe. Let air inside there. Do this, and you'll be fine.

  • I noticed i have it. I scraped some off with my nails but I still have to keep doing it. I'll try using a brush because my nails aren't getting everything

  • Eat healthy, don't use any products... Just plenty of water nd with ur fingers.. Rinse it.. The folds nd it shal go..
U say it keeps coming back.. Try a change of diet, nd do not use any products.. Vagina is acidic 3.8 to 4.5 ph wheras soaps are alkaline.. So using soap disturbs the ph blance nd certain bacteria start to grow which otherwise do not grow in acidic medium.. The main useful bacteria is bacillius something like that.. Same as in curd..
So eating curd is ur good and having no sugar also

  • Are you using soap or anything else down there? Soaps, douches and other hygiene products cause irritation in the delicate tissues in the genitals. Smegma is just sebum and dead skin cells and if you're making more than usual perhaps you've irritated the skin down there?

This article talks about it. Maybe it'll be useful.

    • This one, too; link

    • I just stopped using soap about 6 weeks ago (my whole life I didn't know that it was bad to wash with soap lol). I will just bump my washing up to 2 times a day and work on my diet (I admit I have been pigging out a lot lately and that's probably why I'm producing so much sebum)

  • Smegma is simply dehydrated vaginal mucous. If you will give your vulva a warm water rinse, including poking around in your Vag a bit, this problem will go away.

    • I neglected to say every time you pee.

    • Then I don't think that I have smegma.. what I have is just too much sebum. I've had this issue with my scalp before. To solve that problem I just put a little tea tree oil in my shampoo, but I'm pretty sure it's not okay to put tea tree oil down there. I was just wondering if I could somehow regulate sebum through another fix that won't burn the crap out of my vagina

  • Smegma on women? I didn't know that existed, thought was only on uncut d***s...

    • Me too until I looked up what it was. It's basically just sebum overproduction getting trapped in between the labia majora and minora

    • The clitoral hood is the female equivalent of the foreskin. They both contain sebaceous glands and thus smegma can accumulate.
