I love tongue kissing, but if it's the first kiss on a 1st or 2nd date I like to take it slow and "fish kiss" without tongue.
The reason why I do this is because normally when I french I kiss I like to rub her back or grab her ass etc. I like to 'feel around' when I do.

You definitely should not French kiss your first time with that guy because French kissing is more of a sexual type of kiss. Your first kiss should be an old fashioned kiss on the lips lasting a couple of seconds. Once you two are in a relationship and getting intimate, that's when French kissing is appropriate. And yes, men love it.
