What is everyone's problem with female nipples?

There are a lot of body parts that both male and females have, but out of all the similar body parts, female nipples are called to be covered up in almost all forms of media in America. People seem to be fine if everything except the nipple is shown of a female breast in an advertisement, but once the nipple is shown, it is automatically called p*rnographic and we must think of the children because the sight of a nipple rots their brain. Children feed from their mother's nipple for the first year or so of their life so why are we hiding female nipples from them after a certain age? On the other hand, male nipples can be shown in public or in mass media and they are pretty much the same as a females. Male breasts can even become as large or larger than a female's breast and some men have no problem showing them off from their front porch. Heck, a male breast can lactate just like a female's with the right amount of hormones. They are so similar, it just seems ridiculous that women and men have been brainwashed by our society that only one of the genders has to cover up their nipple, just because. So my question is, why are you bothered by the sight of female nipples in public but not by males? Nipples are not needed to fertilize the egg, they are just there and are both sensitive for both genders so any sexualized answers will not be insightful for me.

  • When you see the nipple you've basically seen the entire breast.

It's a conservative ideal to have women covered up as much as possible and breasts have become that last frontier of mystery in most parts of the world. Sure, naked breasts are harmless but at some point you have to determine where the line is drawn between decent and indecent exposure. A nudist would argue that there is no such thing as indecent, as all parts and functions of the human body is natural and prevalent in all of us.

But then, where is the line? If a naked old man spread his buttcheeks in your view as you ate your bleu cheese salad brunch, would you say "that is natural, as we all have an asscrack that farts and spews waste"? Of course not. It's disgusting and indecent. While I enjoy the breasts of a woman, there are some things better left out of the public eye.

    • lol! agreed:P

    • Come.

    • Disagree because if a male breast is not indecent, than a female breast should not be indecent. Buttholes are considered indecent for both genders and that is fine by me because it is equal and fair.

  • The female nipple is not the same as the male. During puberty, most female nipples go through changes - in color, size, shape, etc. The aerola grows and may change color. If they were not different than men's, then men would not be attracted to them. So they are not the same.

That said, I agree most of what you say. I feel that just because something is different between the sexes is not a reason to cover it up. And the obsession to cover the breast causes ridiculous amounts of problems for women breastfeeding at times they are in public.

Not all cultures are this way, though. An interesting article about how German's view nudity no, and over the changes under different regimes just came out and you may be interested in reading it. you can find it at link

    • During puberty, lots of body parts go through changes as well that are slightly different between the sexes. Women become attracted to a mans new height, arm muscle, chiseled jaw etc, but men are not expected to cover these up even though they attract females. Women go through some body changes too, but nipples have to be covered up even though other attractive traits do not have to be.

    • As I said "just because something is different between the sexes is not a reason to cover it up." I would prefer that western society not have the hangups they do, but then it is far better than many other societies (thin burqua).

  • i don't think its that big of a deal honestly, it's not like there's an army of girls who are pissed that they have to cover their nips.

we all know the answer already. society sees women's nipples as a sexual body part, and out of common decency and respect (to horny preteens/teens/men) we keep them covered up so we don't cause chaos.

women don't look at a shirtless guy and instantly see SEX, but men do when they see nipples/breasts. we just need to accommodate to society.

    • What is a male child grew up in a society where female nipples are exposed as often as men's were. Wouldn't that condition them to think female nipples aren't that big of a deal? I think our current society creates this image of mystery and sexiness around the female nipple, and that perpetuates the covering up, but if it was common place 24/7, men wouldn't make a big deal out of it.

    • not necessarily, I mean guys still go crazy over girls simply wearing fitted skirts or bathing suits (even jeans sometimes) and they've seen those all their lives. And even if we tried the method of conditioning younger kids, we'd only be changing the younger kids not society as a whole (we also need to consider the parents who won't/don't want their kids seeing things like that).

  • female nipples have a lump of fat attached, are more sensitive than men's and are used to feed babies. Its that lump of fat that is considered sexy and makes men like female nipples and it gives them erections. Man boobs don't give anyone boners its not about similarity the fact that girl boobs give people erections.

    • I've seen plenty of obese men with a large lump of fat attached to their nipple. My boyfriend's nipples are more sensitive than mine or equal to. Some men have been able to breastfeed their babies but even though more women do it, their nipples should be celebrated even more because they give nourishment to a child. What does or does not give people erections or arousal should not determine what gets covered or not because some people can get a boner from anything. It is so subjective.

    • Yeah I know they are used for feeding but sigmund freud would probably debate with you that breastfeeding and nourishment from the nipple develops in to sexual fetishism

    • I was breastfed but did not develop a sexual fetish for nipples.

  • Nipples are nipples to me, but on the other hand I am a supporter in anyone who takes part in the gotopless.com movement.

  • beats the hell outta me, I'd much rather see female nipples in public than male... we should be the ones who are by law forced to cover up!

    • as if! male pecs are hot!

    • I don't think males or females should be forced by law to cover their nipples.

  • I don't have problem with them! I love them!! Show them a lot more often and the world will be a MUCH happier and more peaceful place!!

  • I don't get bothered I like them I like them to the point that I get sexually aroused just by looking at them. it's not so good to get sexually aroused in public. so in order to stop guys from walking in the street with a hard d*** bulging from their trousers, women are supposed to hide their nipples. if even women don't feel comfortable showing them off. they can show anything but they hide the nipples.

    • You are aroused because they are a female, not because of their nipple. I bet you are not aroused by male nipples even though they look the same as a females.

  • Got no problems whatsoever as my girlfriend and her mom exposed at home and going out no bra at all too, , both have attractive nipples.

  • I have no idea why people are s uptight about this.

  • i agree it really grinds my gears when that happens. Janet Jackson had it rite.

  • I don't understand that either. But its okay for a woman to breastfeed in public. America can be weird like that sometimes.

    • I think it is brainwashed nonsense. People who are obsessed or repulsed by seeing a female nipple just look juvenile to me.

  • Some Islamic societies have their women cover up even their hair so its not the worst situation you are in in the west, western women are the most free in all of the world.

  • I dont have any problem... I just love them.. wish all girls could show me theirs

  • I for one am not bothered by women’s nipples. Also, I have been to other countries where exposing women’s breasts is not a big deal. I think many people in the USA have been raised with this puritanical ethnic that says women’s breasts are somehow sinful and should be covered, which is just bizarre.

  • I hope more people will accept women's nipples on display, it's only fair.

  • because boobs make my boner hard

  • Thanks, Thermia and from a girl, no less.

I am bothered by all these stupid pushup bras with a half inch of padding that create an artificial cleavage but conceal any evidence of nipples. I would prefer a and b-cups behind a silk blouse with no bra. Hell, they did that in the 1940's! They were everywhere in the 60's and 70's and came and went again in the 90's. Victoria's Secret! I hate you. I do not care about cleavage and thongs. I want bobbing boobs and prominent nipples!

  • it almost feels like lately, the media is trying to lift this mindset.

  • Americans are pervs

  • Because guys are too perverted. A woman can't expose her breast without some dude thinking sex oddly enough. Breasts have nothing to do with the act of intercourse.

    • But in ads they usually show the sides of the breast, but always cover the nipple. Men and women both have nipples, so why is the common attribute being covered up but not the uncommon attribute, the rest of the breast?

    • That's what I'm saying. Girls aren't really turned on by a guys nipple.

    • Guys get turned on over anything. A sexy look, pretty hair, a lovely scent, nice legs, etc but we don't have to cover any of those up so it obviously shouldn't matter for a female nipple too... but it is an exception and people want it covered even though it looks the same as a male nipple.
