IMO, if you aren't at church or in a professional environment or something, it's fine, swimwear or otherwise.
But as far as swimwear, even Olympic athletes have hard nipples poking through their swimsuits, and people seem to survive somehow.
Generally, it is only (some) other women who object; guys never do.

Everybody has them. Who cares. It's the female anatomy and frankly, it's beautiful. Big, small...it's life. People would be a lot happier I they weren't so up right and spent more time naked
It's generally not that acceptable in professional settings. For example work, class, etc.
