Girls, going to the restroom during your period (TMI)?

TMI warning. I wear pads because they're more comfortable for me. But when I need to go #1, it's a mess. I sometimes even avoid going to pee because it's just too messy and I can't deal with that in public. I don't know what to do. I carry around Huggies wipes (LOL) in my gym bag so I've been using them after I pee. but still, it doesn't help cause wipees aren't meant for that. I know they have Summer's Eve. Advice? sorry about this

  • Yup, it's a mess, but I just deal with it. I simply change my pads as often as possible, preferably around 5 times during my heavier days and around 3 times during my "normal" or light days. Making sure your pads are relatively clean helps getting rid of some of that mess. And yeah, it can be a pain sometimes, but I always feel a lot better when I just take care of the mess asap, because the clean feeling helps me deal with the fact that being on your period sucks anyway lol.
My advice is to just change your pads more often. Also, instead of thinking badly of it, try to be neutral. If you think "oh no, not this shit again... I don't want to..." every time you have to go to the bathroom, of course it'll feel like a bad experience. But if you just think "whatever, let's get it over with", it won't be as bad as before. It's all about mind controlling yourself. And if you have to go, you just have to go. Holding it in is definitely not healthy. Just deal with it... it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to clean yourself thoroughly. No big deal!

  • This is just a fact of life! Use lots of toilet paper, or use baby wipes like you mentioned. (Why don't they help? I'd think they would.) If you're in a single bathroom, you can dampen some toilet paper at the sink and use that to clean up. Changing your pad frequently will also help keep you feeling fresher. Try not to stress about it- it's not fun, but it's also not the end of the world. Waiting longer to pee could result in a bladder infection, so try to avoid that! For a more comfortable period all round, drink lots of water and avoid caffeine, alcohol, and excess amounts of sugar.

  • don't hold it in. when nature calls you need to answer

just go, I don't know if you have a really heavy flow but on the days that I do I just go, I wear pads too and I just deal with it. I use a lot of toilet paper. luckily I only have heavy flow for 2 days

  • its the oppsite for me, i use tampons because its cleaner and you must change your pad/tampon everytime you pee. its annoying for me cause i pee like 10 times a day no joke. i also carry flushable wipes too. you need to treat your vagina like its your god. no man wants a dirty vag, also you can get a lot of infections holding it in.(some deadly) dont be embrassed, just be clean.

  • rinse with water in a towel!

  • what is the problem? doesn't toilet paper solve everything?

    • When I do go to use the restroom I end up using a lot of toilet paper because it's so messy

    • me too. i've never thought it was an issue? maybe i don't get what you mean

    • Or I see it as an issue and you don't haha. I'm sure some girls aren't bothered by it

  • Tampons are much cleaner and less mess!!

    • They also require sticking an object up inside your vagina using a flimsy little contraption that doesn't always work, which often results in getting blood all over your hands from fishing around down there. Also it's much harder to know when to change it, and if you accidentally leave it in too long you could die. So there's that.
