I can't find my urethra!!! (wee opening)

This may sound like a really dumb question, but are urethra's on young women generally harder to find? I'm a nurse, so I usually see this area on patients, but mainly older people, men and women. Urethra's on women are often a bit of a challenge to find, but after looking...I just dont seem to have one at all. When I look, all I can see is my clitoris, labia and vagina...but no urethra at all. In my nursing practice, I do not usually see this area on younger women, so I don't really have much to compare myself to. Girls...have you found yours? Or is yours just as hidden as mine?

  • I am really surprised to hear a nurse asking this. Okay, here comes the info on female urethra (from a male!) As you must know, and can see in any anatomy book, the urethra is between the labia minora (inner lips), behind the clitoris, and "usually" ahead of the vagina. I emphasized "usually" because there are some women where the opening to the urethra is actually inside the vagina. This may be due to widening of the vagina through age, or who knows what, but it exists. I first heard about this from a nurse I trust, and then later actually saw pictures of that.

BUT, in any case, the opening is very small and usually the area around it pushes it together so you don't notice any opening. So if you do not see it at first, it is still probably in the normal place.

Get a mirror that yo will be able to clean up later, and sit in the bath tub. get the mirror set so you can observe, then let your urine flow. You will see where it is coming from, and the pressure of the urine pushes out the opening so that you can actually see the hole.

    • Thanks a lot for your answer. I know I'm not the only nurse with this issue, I've spoken to others who gave expressed the same thing.

    • Just curious, why are you trying to find it on yourself? Is it just curiosity? In any case, I am very happy (and relieved) to see that you have decided against the knitting needle idea.

    • Yes, just curiosity really. After many years of catherterising numeroys females at work, and observing how uniquely different they all are, and how hard their urethras are to locate, I decided to see if I could find my own...but failed to do so, and struggled much more with myself than I do with my patients, to spot the urethra.

  • The urethra on just about any age woman is hard to find. The only time it's the slightest bit noticeable is when you are peeing. You should take a mirror and check for yourself-girls who know more about there bodies are better lovers.

You might want to have a guy show it to you as #1: he'll love doing so & #2: it's so much easier for someone who already has their head between your legs to point it out. It's a tiny hole between your clit and your V-closer to your V. Some of the women who have squirting orgasms are actually releasing small amounts of urine. It's still a turn on and is in no way toxic.

If he finds it, ask him to rub it with increasing amounts of pleasure. Many women love this sensation.

    • Very interesting, thankyou! I am infact a squirter, so I will definitely look into this...

  • Well you have one or you wouldn't be able to pee lol. It shouldn't be hard to find. It's above the vagina. Try starting right at the top of your lips but inside them until the first bump occurs.

    • Tried that...there jist doesn't seem to be any opening at all...other than the obvious one :/. Maybe its time to get out the mirror while peeing...

    • That'd probably be the best thing to do.

  • It's easy to spot during oral sex for a guy. While we're down their up close and personal and she's pushing with her pelvic muscles, it enlarges and shows itself.

  • I don't recommend this at all but I am super lazy and wouldn't bother fidgeting with a mirror at all. Just use a (blunt) knitting needle and if it feels pretty intense and goes inside 1-2 inch that's where it is for sure.

    • 2 inch is too much, make that 2-3cm I grew up with metric.

    • thanks for answering. how did you learn that technique? I hope it wouldn't be too.painful (even though it is blunt). do you find it easy to spot the urethra on females?

    • I am not an expert on this but if you insert stuff into there it feels quite distinct (not painful) and some women are really into it. A knitting needle likely has the right thickness but you got to be careful of course and not poke around wildly, also the thing is sensitive it needs to be really smooth without imperfections. You will know when it is inside, it could be too far back that's why you can't see it for yourself. I am not a doctor and I believe sonding the urethra yourself is not considered to be safe to be done at home afaik, so don't do it if you don't know what you are doing.

  • it's where you urinate from. so next you urinate take a gander where it's coming from

  • You want me to belive your a 30 yr old nurse who can't find her own urethra? How the hell do you wipe your ass? Really just say your a 10 yr old boy wanting answers!

  • Found it lol

  • nextime you are in the shower pee. find where the piss is coming from and there you go.

  • Take a piss, and use a mirror.

How the hell can you be a nurse? Seriously...

    • Well, being able to detect where the urethra is on oneself is not the defining point to qualify as a nurse...there are actually much more important things, believe it or not. It is actually common practice to struggle to find the urethra during catheterisation on females, and accidntally put it in the vagina instead. So my query is actually quite commnon.

  • wow your a girl and you can't find your own, im a guy and i can find it really easy on a girl its not that difficult its just above the vagina opening you have to spread open your labia minora to see it better

    • I have tried that many times, but there doesn't seem to be any small opening at all...

    • your probably looking in the wrong place, if i was lucky somehow to show you, i would help, but im not lucky enough for amazing things like that to happen
