Interview Help: Sex store!! HELP

I am 18, and I am applying for a job at Lovers Lane. Not only because they are close to my home, and I need a summer job but because I feel being around mature adults might mature me a little bit. I am a little oblivious to sex, being a virgin but not prudish. What kind of questions do you think they will ask me at the interview so that I am prepared?

okay, scratch the maturity part, because we obviously have different views on what I mean. I want a job at a place that will be interesting with never a dull day. I am applying here and all I ask is what kind of question will they ask me. I understand they want someone proffesional with experience which I have. I want to know if they will expect me to know about the products and how they are used?

  • well I don't think mature adults would work at a sex shop. so you probably won't get maturity out of this experience. but you said you needed a job for the summer so I think they might ask if you would know how to handle situations like if you can handle the people that come in. I'm sure you will come across a few pervy people, a few crazy fetishes, and some people that will make you feel uneasy because of where you will be working. and you will have to an easy-going kind of person because of it. you will have to laugh off the pervy questions you get asked, politely decline when someone offers you a "job", and don't get squeamish from what people buy. it also wouldn't be a bad idea to have a knowledge of the "toys"that they have there. it's good to know about the selections that people make and you could be helpful in that department because not a lot of girls work at sex shops in general so you could come in from that point of view. and finally, don't be afraid to talk sex stuff if it comes up. you are working in a place that's ALL about sex. I know you are a virgin but don't be afraid to speak your opinion. hope this helps you and good luck!

    • from your update: what do you mean exactly by maturity then? I would like to help you out and I think they would like to know that you can help any customer that has questions as with any job in selling products. I would be looking up anything you can on sex toys or intimate products. you'd be surprised by the questions you might get from customers who buy things there. just show a good understanding of ALL the products they would have and you should be good.

    • thank you, I appriciate your advise

  • To begin with, I don't think a job at a sex store will help you be around "mature adults"... you'll definitely be around kinky adults.. but "mature".. I don't think so... you might wanna rethink that!

    • as for the update: It's just a job. You're going to be a saleswoman. You sell products... It's not going to define whether your days are dull or not!

    • have you ever been to lovers lane. yes it will. every job is different and I find sex interesting so yes helping people buy items or find the perfect outfits will be very interesting to me. rather then working as a boring host as I do now.

    • wow that was very defensive.. I didn't mean to offend you in any way. i'm sorry if I did. Well I honestly wouldn't really know... i hope things work out!

  • Go to the Good Vibrations site. First, take a good look at the products available, figure out what each one does, what someone would get out of it. If you don't know, find out--Google is your best friend, here.

Then go to their "How To" section and read EVERYTHING. Commit it to memory if you can; they are answering your clients' questions, so you'll be expected to know this cold at some point.

Also, fill in the gaps in your general sex education. Innocence is one thing, ignorance another; your customers are looking for better sex, and you need to have some idea of what that is to be of any use to them.

The most powerful seller, of ANY product, is the person who understands what their clients want and supplies it. Come off as knowledgeable and useful to your customers, and you're 99% there.

  • I'd focus on the business side of things, experience of retail and working in the service industry (no, not that way, dirty mind!) as they'll be looking for a professional in the store, not a sex guru.
