There is no innocence in power

Before I start the bulk of this take, I must explain the true meaning of power. Power is not strength, money, or influence. These are only manifestations of power, not power itself. Power is not your control of resources or others, it is the control of your own cuircumstances. Your control of these cuircumstances may be facilitated by others, but your control is your control nonetheless.
Anything that you cannot say no to effectively makes you it's slave, as you do not have the power to change if you would wish it.

There is no innocence in power. Men or woman who lose attractiveness with age are really distressed at their loss of control of the other sex and their loss of power, as their attractiveness no longer allows them to change their circumstance. Loss of material assets, beauty, intelligence, strength are all losses of power. The way I see it nearly all of life for 99.99% of people is spent trying to gain power. After all, humans are controlling, manipulative creatures after all. I have no sympathy for a man or woman distressed at their loss of power, because the desire in itself is one of selfishness. Even the seemingly selfless of acts are based in selfish desire.

But.... Power in itself is not necessarily evil or selfish. In modern times, most of the power an individual will gain is either at the expense of, or facilitated by other people. Power over oneself is not selfish, only when you require something of others is this power morally concerning. And so many things that are considered normal I consider morally concerning, but that's beside the point.

So the next time someone complains about attractiveness standards or deals that concern more than one person in general, lend them no sympathy. At the base of it all, Power is the motivator

And there is no innocence in power.
