Hey You, Know Your Worth!

Hello beautiful people, Char here. I won't keep you all for long with this Take. It's just a friendly reminder that will hopefully reach some people. Read on!

Too often we settle for less than we deserve because we don't know our worth. We put up with people that treat us like second options. We put up with people that use us for what they need and toss us to the side like trash. People that make us feel like we're worth absolutely nothing. And why? Because we feel like we can't get anything better. Or worse, like we don't deserve better. Well guess what, that closet be further from the truth.

I used to be someone that took whatever was given to me. No questions asked. I stayed with someone who cheated on me. I allowed people to use me. I would tell myself things like "at least you have someone" and "you're familiar with this pain so just deal". I was basically forcing myself to settle because I felt like that's what I deserved and that it was the best that I was going to get. A lot of other stuff was going on my life and so I did some soul searching. While doing so I realized this: people will only treat you the way you allow them to. If you allow them to walk all over you and mistreat you, then that's what they will continue to do. You are better than that. Nobody deserves to be treated as second best. Don't ever feel like you have to settle for less than you deserve. Settling does nothing but cause trouble in the long run. And while you're settling you may very well be missing out on the person that will treat you the way you deserve to be treated.

You are worth it. You are good enough. You deserve to be treated with respect. You deserve to be loved the way that you love. You don't have to settle. You don't have to accept being second best. There is better out there. So break out of the habit of taking just anything old thing. Stop allowing people to blatantly use and abuse you. You're better than that. Take a look at yourself and know that you are worth it! And don't ever forget it!

I know not to base my worth on what other people think, but sometimes it's just too damn hard to not feel insecure, or to feel like you're not good enough, when someone rejects you for example. Or when someone loses interest in you, either as a friend or as a potential special someone. It's a massive hit to the ego and sometimes it's difficult to remind yourself that hey, just because that person doesn't see anything special in you, it doesn't mean you aren't special. It happened to me recently and I briefly fell into this hole of thinking that I'll never find someone, I'll never be good enough for anyone etc. Thankfully I was able to stop pitying myself like that, and I pulled myself out of that hole relatively quickly. But I know other people struggle with that a lot more than me, so you writing this take was just sososo important. And even for me, it was a nice reminder to not get too hung up on people who don't reciprocate interest, or people who don't treat me the way I deserve to be treated.

This is very good stuff! I read it today and I got flashbacks of the what I believed to be the worthless myself. Today I am the opposite of what I was.

One of my boy friends considers me 'one of the guys' - guys tend to joke around with each other about how they're fat or ugly. When you combine a girl with an ed with a boy that calls his friends fat? HAH what a great A+ 10/10 combo

And the thing is is that I know he doesn't actually mean it, and he's said multiple times he doesn't mean it, it just hurts to hear it repeatedly, you know?

Char a wonderful and inspirational my take. it does make you thank and look at your life. but there is one small problem for some people, that is they know no other way how to live or what to expect to see what life could be if someone truly cared and loved them. they are so jaded that its normal and can not see any other life than what the one they are living for as long as they can remember. people like this need saved somehow from a world they can not see past.

I was searching for something to argue against based on that quote. "Someone's inability see your worth" I wanted to point out that that someone is ourselves and that is precisely what you wrote about. I'm happy that this positive post was also sensible. That instead of shifting the blame it encourages others to take responsibility for themselves. Nicely done.

Although I can cherish such great words, it still comes off as the old "everyone's special" slogan, which I do not believe is true. You or I are not special by default. We can only make ourselves be like that through hard effort.
